I think the others were made up. According to WikiPedia, the 7 Archangels are: Jegudiel, Gabriel, Selaphiel, Michael, Uriel, Raphiel, Barachiel. Although only Michael and Gabriel are actually mentioned. The names Sammael, Amitiel, Ithuriel and Baliel used in this film appear to not be real names at all. I look for them at http://www.behindthename.com and they did not appear anywhere.

Not directly, no. But in many grimoires, for example, the names of angels and demons etc. are often corrupted. Sometimes to the degree where they become unrecognizable. Sammael is probably Samael, and Baliel is probably Belial. Of these I'm certain. Hope that helps...

This move uses its own mythology loosely based on pseudo-christian mythology.

Sammael, is Samael; a demon said to have been Satan's real name or often times one of his chief luitenent.

Amitiel, I have no idea, on wikipedia there's a list of angels and demons from different relegions,

Ithuriel, I'm assuming is a play on Etherial, the stuff, matter, molecules or what have you that all of heaven is made of.

Baliel, is most likely Belial, a chief luitenent in Satan's army and one of the original demons to rebel with him.

You will all taste oblivion... Which tastes like Red Bull.... Which is disgusting!

Sammael was originally a dark but loyal angel of death in Jewish mythology . The connection to Satan came later after The Catholic Church found that The Bible didn`t really support the dogma about Lucifer and Satan being the same entity .

Amitiel was an angel of truth which makes her fall all the more devastating .

Ithuriel was one of the three deputy sarim ( princes ) of the holy sefiroth serving under the angel Sephuriron . He also played a minor but important role in " Paradise Lost " as a cherub who touched Satan with a spear , forcing him to resume his true form .

Ofcourse , the film characters have nothing to do with their counterparts from Judeo-Christian mythology aside from the names and in Sammael`s case he`s not even really Sammael but a corrupted Michael .

According to the book ANGELS A to Z
Amitiel is the serving angel of Spugliguel the governing angel of spring.
And the book has the spelling of Sammael as Sammael with two M's.

And again , none of this crap matters in the context of The Film as these are original characters who just so happen to have familiar names from Judeo-Christian and in one case Zoroastrian lore ! Furthermore , there`s , like , a million pounds of often contradictory lore on half these angels !
