SOMEONE MUST KNOW THE ANSWER, HELP!

Question, has anyone noticed the similarity to an old slasher film set in the wilderness in the 80's. I do not know the title of the film as I saw it so long ago. The cover of the film pictures a few people camping around a fire, while the killer is seen in the shadows, much the same as in this cover, with a hook weapon of some kind and dressed in tattered rags. I do remember that the film was set near a river. What is the title of this film, SOMEONE MUST KNOW THE ANSWER, HELP!

Ask on the horror board. Someone there will probably know the film you're looking for.

I think you are talking about Campfire Tales which wasn't 80's but late 90's but sounds like what you are talking about.

Thanks for your help, unfortunatley for me thats not the one. The film I am searching for was made during the popular Friday the 13th era of the 80's.

Was it "The Final Terror"? That was an early '80's slasher starring Adrian Zmed, with a somewhat similar "Hillbilly killing campers" plot. Saw it on a local channel years ago, in the middle of the night, and it freaked me out with some of its' scenes.

Thank you, you are awsome! Thats the one! For years I assumed it was Terror 'something', and starring Linda Hamilton, boy was my recall on the wrong track. Yes it is the 'Final Terror' with Daryl Hannah. Really appreciate your time and solving my years of searching. Thank god. It was a creepy film and not a bad attempt on the slasher cash in of the time. Now I can begin my search for it on DVD. The scene that mostly sticks in my mind is when the unseen Hillbilly places the hat on the womens head in the boat, all she does is cry helpless, then later turns up with a cut throat, even to this day just that scene really creeps me out.
Thanks again.

I'm really glad I could help. Like I said, the movie made quite an impression on me as a kid, it was quite gruesome and scary. lol, this discussion is making me want to order it from Netflix, to see how it holds up. Oh, and thanks for reminding me that Darryl Hannah was in this....back in the day, hubba!! Wasn't Rachel Ward also in it? It had a nifty cast for such an early, lost-in-the-mix slasher film!
