...Scripts! Why in the hell would he keep antagonizing the captors, who have already demonstrated that they are in total control. He acts like being forced to marry the woman he supposedly loves is as bad as having his head cut off too.
Aren't we all tired of Hollywood's attack on Christianity by now? They sure hate 'em don't they?
And why would a punk like Brody waste his time being concerned about the whereabouts of the "man-hiker"?
I loved the line, however "You are about to evolve!" LOL

How is this film an attack on Christianity? Do you think Clyde & Ida represent good Christian folk? If the film was an attack on anyone, it was an attack on folks who USE Christianity as an excuse to do evil. Was SE7EN an attack on Christianity too? Or was it highlighting how some people use religion to do crazy stuff?
Re: Brody... Mike assaulted Brody's friend and he wanted payback. He SAID this to Ida when he came to her home. But Ida acted odd and he remembered this. Later in the film, after Clyde said he saw the couple leave, he sees a "missing" flier. He already was suspicious when he went to Ida's. While not stated, one could assume when there's a "missing" flier, there's a reward to be had. Or maybe Brody just didn't like being lied to? Either way, there's clear reasons to motivate Brody.
As far as Mike 's train of thought... as he explained, he knew the moment he got his girl pregnant they'd kill him and one she gave birth, they'd kill her. Folks under stress/torture & pressure don't always make rational decisions. Sure, he could've said he tried, but - as we saw - Ida would check the girl's Vagina to see if he came. He was willing to endure some pain & torture instead of being instantly killed once pregnancy happened. Perhaps he was nervous he'd get her pregnant. Would I have chosen the same path as Mike? Probably not, but his plan did work. He survived long enough to overpower his captors.
Also, you're ignoring the fact that he did eventually SAY he would do what she asked. When Ida threatened to cut all Sheryl's body parts, he said he would agree.
So he caved after 2 nights.
And even if Mike did have sex with her, there's no saying they wouldn't have still tortured him. They were crazy, right? I just think Mike made a decision and stuck to it.
I disagree in all regards, but then again I'm not trying to cover the gaps in realism like you are. And as for the Christian issue... yes, it's a consistent theme to portray Christians as evil doers and hypocrites. And that is an attack on Christianity.
You may not be smart enough to realize impressionable minds will learn negativity toward Christians, due to these consistently negative portrayals. But Hollywood is aware of the power they have on our perceptions and if you don't believe me, do some research.
There are many quotes to be found by writers, producers and directors, acknowledging that they shape our beliefs. They're just lucky that most of you are sheep that don't see that movies are used for this purpose.

I am not trying to cover "gaps", I'm simply examining the film for what it was.
You present the "surface". A knee jerk reaction. Someone Christian is doing something bad so that means the film is condemning all of Christianity and it's spreading a negative image of Christianity to our children. WON'T SOMEONE PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!
I remember when I was in school. Catholic school. We were told by our teachers not to support a film called THE LAST TEMPTATION OF CHRIST. So I avoided it. I saw the film years later. It was amazing. It actually helps explain a very complicated thing about Catholic faith that Jesus is both man & God. Why did the Church not want folks seeing it? Because it showed jesus married. They left out that it was just a dream Jesus had had he chosen NOT to die on the cross.
Again, by only examining the surface, you jump to conclusions and look like a fool.
When a gun crime is committed, the liberal media immediately wants to jump on the "ban guns" without examining the bad people using the gun.
That's what you're doing.
Clyde and Ida's gun to do evil is religion. The filmmakers aren't saying Christianity is bad. It's saying people who use Religion to do evil are.
The film has layers. It even shows you the layers. At first, Ida & Clyde are friendly, religious. Then really religious. But then, as their plan unfolds, they start straying from religion. Their plan falls apart and they're exposed as frauds.
On another board you said I was a "champion" of the film... well, no more than you are hell bent on attacking the film for something it is not. Why has this small film garnered so much of your attention?
