There were reasons Sheryl did not want to leave (if you could follow). She was trying to have private time with Mike to tell him she was pregnant. She didn't want to leave on that note.
This is just a lame excuse! They could've left and gone anywhere safe for this purpose. Mike seemed to have plenty of money. It would've been perfectly normal, in light of the threat they just encountered, to want to go find a nice hotel (if you could listen to reason).
And they didn't keep walking like nothing happened! She made him get rid of the bullets. Anyone could see the hillbillies were all talk, trying to take advantage of tourists. They weren't a threat and Mike knew it.
They did keep walking like nothing happened, other than getting rid of the the bullets, which were there best mode of protection. I don't care if Mike secretly had more in the script. It still leaves Sheryl on the hook for a stupid unrealistic reaction. [Sheryl] "My vagina was just threatened with intrusion, get rid of that naughty gun/bullets! I want us to be even more vulnerable next time." [Mike] Okay baby... I like the challenge of having to fight for our lives with nothing to defend us with."
Now the bullets? That bugged me too, not too much, but it did seem odd. But in horror films, folks do silly things.
So we're supposed to accept the stupidity because it's common in horror movies? I would actually like horror movies to all be written without using the STUPIDITY plot device. This movie really abused that device too.
The acting was good but lilbearzmom's complaints were all valid. And she didn't even cover all the bases.
