Lots of heart, but really boring zzzzzzzz

I tried to like it, but looked at the clock too many times. 4/10

I had a similar problem, but I found myself just ignoring the urge to look at the clock. But there were a few moments where I would stand up and clean up things around me a bit, just to waste time while the next scene came in.

My real problem (SUPER SPOILERS) was with just how awkward he was. I mean, he goes all the way to Kadhi's homeland, semi-apologizes for calling her a whore, then let's her have the last word when he's trying to win her back? You stupid fool! She asked him what it is he really wanted and all he could do is stand there and look stupid.

I'm not saying everyone would be able to say what is necessary, and I can understand his emotions and actions leading up to that point... but if you already made this crazy trip, not ONLY for the woman, but in part for her... why not give it your best chance? I don't think he's gonna have many more opportunities for her in the future. He'll obviously move on to someone else once his career takes off again (assuming it does), but why let it pass you up? That's a pretty big "what if" you're letting go.

Especially a beautiful woman like Sanaa Lathan, damn.

I had the opposite urge. Usually, I putt around while a Netflix ranked 2 1/2 star movie is on. With this one I didn't want to miss a thing they said.

Hey Cherub, so glad you liked it. I heard it was made foe just over a million dollars and shot in 21 days. Movies like this one that bring an audience down a thoughtful, emotional journey (no special effects or CGI--just character and story) need to be encouraged!

I totally agree with you. I just finished watching this movie, and I sat all the way through it, because I was interested in the characters, specifically Matthew Broderick's character and his best friend.

Yes, i was extremely interested in the characters and I found the acting to be quite good. The word cheesy never came to mind because I thought the writing and acting was rich, moving me to a variety of responses, but not at all cheesy or manipulative.

I liked it a lot, more than I expected. It was slow paced, but I didn't want it to end, especially the way it did.
