Not being a Brit...

I'm gathering this Drew kid is either every young guy's nemesis or he's the UK's answer Keanu Reeves. Everyone hates him. I thought his subdued performance played well off of Winstone's over-the-top one.

While predictable and hampered by the usual cliches, Winstone,Drew and Atwell were fun to watch. Then again, I could watch Ray Winstone read a phone book and love it. Hayley Atwell is drop dead gorgeous, which I do agree made the affair a little far fetched, but hey, I'll get over it.

Not being a Brit, you may not notice the subtle way in which this whole film is what those of that nation consider "EMBARRASSINGLY GOD-AWFULL" and that the only real reason to watch it is Hayley Atwell.

Ben Drew aka Plan B, is a singer not an actor but has recently appeared in few film roles. "The Sweeney" is based on a hugely popular TV series from the late 1970s, which at the time already had two feature film spin offs, and is still repeated on television today, still with a huge popular following. The film was made off the back of all this, obviously with new actors (Winstone included, who incidentally appeared a a young punk in an early episode back in the 70s).

Yeah, used to watch it occasionally when I was younger. This is a *beep* travesty in all honesty. I had to Google this Plan B bloke. Shame really, as I usually like Ray Winstone.

It could and should have been a lot better. I think Nick Love is a great director, like his films a lot, but this one wasn't as good as I expected.
