Sweeny Todd - Flying Plod

The film was made as if it was 1975. Just like the original TV series. Unfortunately in the 2010's we're all too sophisticated, clued up about the police and unforgiving of corrupt police tactics. We're more cynical.

The whole production is anomalous. The Flying Squad is bigger than one small team and Scotland Yard is awash with very senior uniformed officers. This film seems to ignore these facts with gay abandon. It's as if the real corruption of the 70's, due mainly to the Sweeny's close criminal connections, are used as an excuse to dress Reagan & Carter as a cockney petty criminals, instead of real police officers. I mean what middle aged man in a £50k+ a year senior job goes to work in sports trainers, jeans, car dealer jacket and flat cap? Even the TV series made sure they all wore a suit and tie, FFS. No investigation, no procedure, no forensics, no idea. Even PC Plod could do better.

Utter rubbish.
