Similar to Ninja Scroll

I just watched Ninja Scroll, and so far the girl who can kill people who make love to her, the guy who shoots a needle from his mouth, the guy who can change faces, the guy that controls strings, and the reincarnation guy have similar abilities to characters in basilisk...

anyone else notice any other similarities?

It's just a matter of the two series working from the same source material.

Ninja Scroll was actually inspired by the series of ninja novels that Futaro Yamada wrote throughout his career. The first of his books (written in 1959) is called The Kouga Ninja Scrolls, and that's the story portrayed in this series.

I haven't seen Ninja Scroll myself, but after having seen this series, I'm definitely going to pick it up somewhere.

Ninja Scroll was one of my earliest anime experiances. Fantastic stuff, very close to Basilisk in tone and.. well, blood shed too.

I hadn't realized until recently that Futaro Yamada had written a whole series of novels though. Hopefully now that The Kouga Ninja Scrolls has been translated the rest of the series will come over too. I'd be very interested in checking them out.

I must be slippin. I love Ninja Scroll and Kenshin OVA's but the series to both suck. And I just realized that Basilisk was from the same source material as NS. Why haven't I known this?

Hopefully now that The Kouga Ninja Scrolls
I would settle for the rest of Yagyu Ninja Scrolls to be translated.

Don't forget the blind swordsman with a VERY acute sense of hearing (Hyoma). And some big guy with iron skin (Gyobu), who happens to be a horny bastard (Josuke).
