this might be the worst anime i've ever seen...

and i've seen a lot of crap.

i'm only 2.5 episodes in, and i don't think i can handle any more. literally EVERYTHING in this has been a cliche, at best... or a blatant rip-off, at worst.

it's like a team of talented animators were at the whim of a 5 year old.

what was the thought process?

'ooh, let's just use romeo and juliet, but make it with magic ninja clans that are really just x-men vs street fighter! let's make everyone look as annoying as possible! big headed dwarf guy will be dhalsim, bumbling fat idiot will be pierre le fou (sp?) from bebop. then there's samurai walter from hellsing. oh, and spiderman. and earthworm jim. and a damn zombie. and captain body hair. and coiffio, the evil controller of cats... err, butterflies. and of course, let's just be ANOTHER terrible show/movie/game with hattori hanzo! gotta have him, for no apparent reason!'

and of course, THE EYES!!! OH NOES!!!!

i can only imagine the other characters are just as bad/worse. waiting for blanka vs storm.

so.
*beep*
lame.

seriously, what kind of morons think that everyone should be some kind of x-men mutant? laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

seriously, how/why do any of you like this?

i fail to understand:

- why you're comparing an anime series to hollywood action movies (????????)

- why you missed the point in that EVERYTHING about this crappy anime was cliche/ripped-off - everything. the entire plot, and every character i saw (stopped 2.5 episodes in...)

original movies/tv series? are you kidding?

akira, code geass, memento, usual suspects, oldboy, cowboy bebop, death note... i could seriously go on and on.

even if SOMETHING from any of the above wasn't entirely original (ie: geass using mechs), it's not a completely stolen plot/story with every character being a rip off...

no comparison.

this is utter crap.

just because hollywood sucks ass, doesn't mean that it's ok to put out cliche/ripped off garbage.

just saying.

reply

[deleted]

yeah, brah.

because one who KNOWS it sucks after watching 2.5 episodes needs to watch the other 20ish (or however long that piece of suck ran) to logically have an argument. oh, wait... no.

and yes, literally everything was a cliche/rip-off.

and last i knew, the things i mentioned preceded this crappy anime. i couldn't care less what it's based off of.

Oh no another thread created by an ignorant arrogant troll with no taste what so ever. The reference you gave shows your lack taste and understanding in general. If you think this is a bad anime, then you clearly know nothing about anime. You didn't even watch the whole thing too. Haha.

sorry I tuned you out

reply

I'm having the same feeling like the OP on this anime, I'm 2 episodes in and already feeling to stop watching it.
Without giving away any spoilers does this anime get better? anyone?

That's why you can't judge an anime by the first two episodes you watch. Basilisk involves watching more than just the first episode in order to become better acquainted with the other ninjas and clans. Once you start getting around episode 7, the plot starts to pick up and you become pretty much familiar with all the ninjas and their techniques.

dumbas$, the "reference"(s) i gave were because of the hilariously blatant rip-offs. my lack taste? that doesn't even make sense, genius. i clearly don't know anything about anime? you got me. you're dorkier than i. so... what was your point supposed to be?

derrrrr

although, you seem to have actually watched this crap in entirety... so there's nothing i could say that would cause more damage than this $hitfest already did.

I love how you are incapable of replying to another person's post without calling them a dumbass or moron. Just because they chose to watch the entire anime and actually enjoyed it doesn't mean they are a moron. Not everyone has to agree with your half-assed assumptions about this anime after you only watch two episodes.

reply

i called them morons because their massive logical fallacies and mongo statements proved that they ARE morons.

ie: if you hate something, you better waste a lot of time watching all of it? yeah, makes sense.

but since i'm "incapable of replying to another person's post without calling them a dumbass or moron" (based on so many posts!), fine. moron.

reply

So you called them morons because "because their massive logical fallacies and mongo statements proved that they ARE morons."?

How is that any different then you making half-assed statements and over-the-top comments about the anime?

But then again, I guess no IMDB message board is complete without the cliche and obligatory topic that trashes the series in question.

reply

(re: tweetie)

what half-assed statements? and over-the-top comments? HAHAHAHA. this crappy anime IS over-the-top. wtf?

and the one claiming that one should keep watching something terrible, that one hates, because it picks up after appx 150 minutes... should probably refrain from criticizing anyone for half-assery.

perhaps you should read my quote again. it clearly applies to you.

reply

You can't be serious. :-|

So basically, all you can do for an argument is twist someone's words around instead of coming up with your own material. Got it.

reply

...coming from the one that STILL never backed up his bs claims?

right, brah.

"blatant rip-off"

"magic ninja clans"

"hattori hanzo! gotta have him, for no apparent reason!"

Search "Futaro Yamada" in wikipedia, that might help a bit. Next time do some research before watching a show. If supernatural fantasy action is not your thing then, well, why bother?

reply

(re: why bother?)

...wasn't it self-explanatory?

heard it was decent from someone (clearly, a troll. haha). couldn't believe how bad it was. made thread. obviously, if i knew how much it sucked, i wouldn't have watched any of it.

reply

I actually found the 1st half of this show the best part and the 2nd half dragging it too much on the romance between them and making Tenzen the huge over the top antagonist also made it worse imo.

Yes ninja shows are bound to step the rip off/cliches line because it's such an exposed genre (more in movies than anime unfortunately I think) but that didn't bother me the least in this one.

One user also said the music was great wich is think the opposite of. I'd say more like bland, non enriching. What I liked the most was the overall animation and story (again, except the tedious repetition of said protagonists names, over and over at the end).

The Past is an illusion. It is indeterminate and probabilistic.

I dunno about the worst, but it's not really doing it for me. I'm on episode 4 and i'm just having trouble getting into it and developing an interest. I don't think it's that it's badly made or anything, just that it isn't really to my taste. I'm not really sure exactly why.

Incidentally, it was the same way when I watched the movie "Shinobi: Heart Under Blade", which was pretty much the exact same story (I gather they're both based on the same book). I wasn't too into that either.

I might stick with it or I might not. I do need the exposure to Japanese, because i'm studying it, but on the other hand there are a lot of anime series to choose from. I'll give it a couple more episodes before I give up on it.

i would not say that this is the worse anime i have seen by any means - your average hentai anyone? = but to me it is overrated. far, far too melodramatic; i know this is meant to be a tragic love story, but i found oboro and Gennosuke far too insipid to give a damn about them, and their deaths seemed utterly pointless. oh, and the death scenes were far too dragged out. this series could have been wrapped up in half the time. i will give credit where it is due: tenzen was a fabulous villain - i really didn't want him to die.
