Unbelievable

****SPOILERS****

I found this quite boring, and the plot unbelievable. The most unbelievable scene was when the man spends the night with the young blonde housekeeper. It's like a male fantasy. What's her motivation? And then the wife turns up on the doorstep in the morning. How did she know?

And the ending. I can understand the man leaving his father's body in Prague, but why give the house to the housekeeper??? It's a kind of fantasy scenario which would never happen in the real life.

And this in a film with obvious pretentions to gritty realism.

**MAJOR SPOILERS**
What's so unbelievable?
The young singer's motivation to sleep w/ Christoffer was the love she had for Christoffer's dad.
Remember the scene where Christoffer first met her and she said she loved his dad?
Then fast forward to the scene where she said he looked just like the father.
I believe she truly had gratitude and love for his father because he took she and her daughter in and gave them a home.

Christoffer gave his father's keys to the woman because he was "letting go" of all the attachments in his life.
Remember the fight scene with his wife where he finally loses it in the streets and threw all of their belongings to the crowd?
Similarly, he chose to let his father's body go with his dad's partner AND he let his wife go on with her lover too.
The last scene where he's laying in the hotel room and seems to have died symbolizes his rebirth.
He had to give everything away that meant something to him in order to live.

What is the motivation for anyone that sleeps with another. Love, attraction and while I've never been in the situation to do it, people have one night stands.

As far as giving the house away, it was never anything that he imagined having or selling.

I had a dad that wasn't there much and when he was there he was hurtful. In June many years ago he came to my home with a brand new expensive sports car. My 15 year old son went out to see the car with excitement and as he started to touch it my dad screamed at him in front of several people that he better not get fingerprints on it. That really hurt and embarrassed my sweet boy. He always did things to hurt and embarrass us. A month later my only child was killed. My dad came, but had to show his butt again. My boy had died and this jerk that had hurt his feelings was back with a vengeance. During the funeral procession he didn't like being put 5th in line and started passing the other cars in that stupid car so he could be first. Can you just imagine?

6 months later my dad died and I got the car. It was worth $80,000. and had 4,000 miles on it. There was no way that I would take that car. I ended up giving it to one of my dad's girlfriend's that he had also been mean to.

People do things like this sometimes and I have never regretted it for one moment.

This is a film that will touch anyone who has felt emotionally slighted by a family member. I specifically say a family member because they are the ones who have access to our most vulnerable side, and they are also the ones we cannot easily eliminate from our life.

Maybe you have been fortunate not to have been in such a situation, which would explain why you found the film boring. I have not been as fortunate, and so I enjoyed this film immensely.
