I want my money back

I can't really express how disappointed I was with this film. Though there were certain points in the movie that I thought were aesthetically pleasing, and other moments where they addressed real issues, majority of the film was a complete washover. The whole movie was a pile of non-sequiters that the director tried to glue together as abstractly as possible, and in my opinion failing to do so.
However, I must say kudos to the musical director. EXCELLENT music.

yeah all in all, this film was a complete and utter pile of crap

it's ok to not like it. But maybe you don't have do do spoilers. not very nice.

I just saw it and I don't know what to say..certainly emotional..it wasn't a bad movie but I will never see it again..never.

btw..I'm a swede..I don't know about you people. Maybe it's a difference there.

reply

don't post spoilers

reply

Yup, this movie was really bad. So damn boring I didn't even watch it all.

reply

Sad by the notion that too many people in the World put themselves in a "Im-a-bully-with-no-taste-and-I-wanna-show-this-by-writing-posts"-category.

reply

The movie was an absolute piece of crap. An abstract story with no real point, useless dialogues shared between to naked young men on a field. It was utterly unsatisfying to watch, as was Ghost World with equally many pluses and review comments on the back of the case. I should've torrented it instead.

reply

I liked it. But it's obviously a love it or hate it movie.
The characters were very easy to identify with and I felt a real longing for the kind of friendship they shared.

reply

easy to identify with?????????

I feel very sorry for you!

The movie was obviously incredible bad.

reply

I agree it's not very easy to identify with the characters, cause it goes way beyond just typical late-adolescent behaviour. However, I did identify with them and I loved the film, and reading your comments makes me feel sorry for you. Not because you didnt like the pic, but you all keep talking about how pointless it is and that only proves how close minded and short-sighted you can be. Theres a huge difference between not getting a film and not liking it. Looks like you just cant even watch a story about guys being themselves and open and naked and not having any girl in it. And that is what's really sad.

reply

Somehow, oh this is such a surprise, I agree with the guy with a normal name, who can spell and doesn't use 9 question marks after each other...

It's *beep* Pure *beep* The acting is excellent, simply because there is no acting; the characters play themselves and they're improvising all the dialouge - anyone could do that. There are a few times in the movie when they actually have to deliver written lines, and at those points we can clearly see they have no potential at all (the parents have to do this towards the end of the movie and it's really embarrasing to watch). Weak story, weak structure and lets face it; this concept isn't exactly groundbreaking at this point. Had the film been made in the sixties it would at least have been "new" in a sence, but 2006? Nah, this is a joke.

I'm from Buenos Aires and i've just seen the movie. I have nothing to do with Falkenberg's inhabitants, but i could feel the homesickness of the guys, and somehow understand their feelings. I think there was a perfect combination of images, music -excellent, by the way-, and a very gloomy story. I enjoyed it.

I Think this movie is great, by far the greatest swedish movie ever, I am myself a swede and don't want to give swedish films a bad name but I'm going to go ahead and do so anyway...

Most of the swedish movies suck! This is the only one that really grabbed my heart!

Peace out!

I come from a small town just like Falkenberg and I really do get it. The gap between being a teenager and becoming an adult. Just the fact that they mention that you need to travle to a country far away to find your true self really made me smile. Its just the kind of thing that me and my friends discuss from time to time.

This movie really touched me in a way that movies usually dont do.

I come from Gothenburg (the "big" city theyre always talking about moving to) and I really loved this move. I see it is a original masterpeice about some friends who finds (and loses) themselves during these intense summermonths. Some of them are just sad and some actually have ambition.

i can understand if some people dont find it very good, but 6,2 is way too low.

reply

I personally think this is the best movie to come out of sweden for several years. Much of it probably due to that i really could relate to it on a personal level

reply

But personally being able to relate to a movie, does not a fantastic movie make. Obviously it's very hard to objectively criticize a movie, but if you for one second can take a step back from your personal revelations etc, and look at what the movie was really about, you'd understand my point.
If I directed a movie about me spending half the movie in a bathroom agonizing over whether I should down a bottle of pills or not and you could subsequently relate to it (on a deep emotional plane), does that make the movie good? Not necessarily. That's pretty much how I viewed this movie. I agree with somebody else that posted on this thread that said that it's either a I Love or I hate movie. I agree that the cinematography was superb, but it had a very linear plotline that made me regret buying the damn tickets.

try watching Damien Odoul's Le Souffle. For everything that was good about the film, mostly the cinematography, there was an awful lot more that was downright inept to just about anyone over the age of 24, indeed I'du like to think that diserning adults would take issue with it. Oh yeah, it's rich on realism but that easily end up being artless. 16 years ago, oh please, it's a haunting refrain of their mediocrity.

Perhaps the answer to why you subjectively or objectively didn't understand this film is to find somewhere in the lack of intellect that you reveal through that analogy?
