Review?

Gday
just watched this on DVD and was very excited about it as the standard Brit movies are mostly ones that i really enjoy. Brain is dead at the moment and i cannot think of any to name but will name some later if i remember.
i also like low budget/low "quality"/indy films. An EXCELLENT Australian one is The Magician if you get the chance to see it.

i was quite dissapointed by TDM and went outside a few times with the movie on pause to have a smoke and instead of coming back in straight away stayed out to surf the net a bit, nearly didnt watch the whole thing through but perservered just to see what would happen.
For curiosities sake i got onto IMDB to check out the score and see what it had, was guessing around a 3.2 and was surprised to see it higher.
Before i voted, and i havn't yet. i flicked through the trivia and some of the cast info then looked at the boards. Its quite cool to see some of the people involved in the movie comment on it and give feedback to comments.
Also quite interesting to see them list some of the movies that they do and do not like.

Having read their comments and responses it made me think about why i was going to give this movie a vote of around 2 and i started thinking about WHY it was, for me, such a woeful movie. That made me think about how i would have done it differently.
Well, i found out that even in my head it is incredibly difficult to take what i know is bad about the film and make it better.
For sure, the acting could have been better but that would have been done with more money/time? So i couldn't have done better if i was making it.
The script? Well, there were things that i think were overexplained and things that i thought were underexplained.
Also some things that i think were BADLY explained.
The cop. ( Keller?) WHY was he reluctant to prosecute that bearded bloke running from him? Because of Hart? How did he know Hart? Fair enough he may have known OF him but why/how did Hart have a hold on him big enough to make him let that crim get away?
And why the %^&@! didnt Ryan speak until the last part of the movie? i actually thought that the guy was a deaf mute in real life and couldnt speak! lol
i even found myself watching him in scenes to see if he responded to verbal stimuli.
There are other bits but this is going on too long anyway.

Some good parts i liked was that he considered himself the tenth man. i didnt expect that ( not that i was expecting anything ) but i think that even though the characters were fairly shallowly done it really suited Ryan to be like that.
i also, although this part was REALLY B grade, liked that big bloke knocking Ryan down then reading the paper until he got up.

So, on relfection i think i was a little harsh in my opinion of the movie but i also think that i think that because some of the people ionvolved in it are posting here.
My vote will be a 3 for the movie but i WILL watch other movies made by them to see what they are like. Not at the movies but i will hire them or even buy them if i can get them cheap enough.

If it were a movie your friends had made, yes, it would be very impressive. However, when you walk into a store and pay money for it, that's a different story.

You expect the sound to be mixed correctly, the editing to be complete, and the scenes to be competently shot. This had none of that unfortunately. Add in an awful and ever intrusive sound track, and this becomes even more unbearable.

With a real budget and a real movie making team behind them, these guys could make a good flick, I agree. But until then, this isn't going to cut it i'm afraid... 3/10 as well from me.

"Did you mean for all those words to come out like that or did they just fall out randomly?"-H.H.
