Is worshiping a torture implement - the Christian cross- desensitizes people ? Makes them more likely to accept of torture ?

I've read that fundamentalist Christian are much more likely to be approving of torture. And non-religious are much less likely to. Is it because they think if Jesus, the "innocent lamb", suffered greatly on a cross, than why can't some sinful, Muslim heretic take some pain ?

The whole infatuation of many Christians with Jesus suffering on the cross, as depicted in "Passion of the Christ", must be detrimental to their ethical compass.

While liberal Christians who focus on Jesus' message of love may ask "Who would Jesus torture?", conservative Christians who focus on the original sin might ask "Who would Satan torture [in the eternal hell fire]?".

And considering that Muslims (as just about any non-fundamentalist Christian), terrorist or not, are prime candidates, than why not torture them, if that can at least theoretically spare some good Christian lifes? And what is a few days, weeks or even months of torture compared with the entire eternity of hell fire ? Heck, it's just a warm up !

What's the point of your post?
No, I don't think the symbol of the cross desensitizes people; I think it does the opposite.
Who would Jesus torture? Or, more accurately, who would he have tortured? I'm pretty sure the answer is 'nobody'. Who would he torture now? Still nobody. Would he condone our torturing people? Very, very unlikely.
What Jesus' torturous death _did_ teach us, is that while pain is something we all bear, even though a few will always bear far more than the rest of us, pain is something that we can overcome, something that we can persevere through. Jesus taught us that our pain is irrelevent when compared to our morality, our beliefs; it is only transitory, while the repercussions of our actions will go on forever.

So if Jesus had been hanged, a hangers noose would have been the symbol for Christianity ?

Why not stick with a "fish" symbol ? Whoever decided to change the Christianity's "logo" from a fish to a torture implement was a sick mother f. !

I don't know. Ask Mel Gibson, he invented Christian torture porn.
