Wow, you get to use your brain!

It's not that often a horror film will encourage you to engage your brain, but that's exactly what you need to do for Credo or The Devil's Curse.

Okay, it's not exactly rocket science we're talking about here, but at least you don't just sit there staring at the screen waiting for the next bit of splatter gore, lame teen joke or pointless fumble on the couch to come along. The film makers are basically asking the audience to use their imaginations - which is a very clever thing to do seeing as they had no budget for effects! We have to picture our own "monster" and constantly wonder what it actually is. Credo's eerie sound and lighting help us do this enormously.

And then there's the twist towards the end. I'm not spoiling it by saying there is a twist, but I'll bet you don't see it coming. It took me a while after the film had finished to completely work it out and I'm not even sure if I am actually right! So, I'm still thinking!

But I'm not surprised there is some negative reaction to this film, especially after the trailer pretty much makes out that this is a film about five kids who get bumped off in an abandoned building. If you're looking for mindless gore, then you're so not going to find it here, fortunately!

I'm all for "smart" horror, especially in a day & age where PG-13 slashers are all the rage...but this movie HARDLY made you use your brain...yes, you kinda wanna know what's going on, but the movie is a lot of boring reaction & pee shots!

Booooooo! Credo: 3/10. The acting was good, not great, but good. I also liked the way it was filmed, but the movie sucked a$$!

I watched this on Chiller last night so I am sure I missed a lot because of commercials and cutting the movie for time, but I thought that the movie moved pretty slowly. Maybe I need to get the DVD and watch the real thing?
