can any1 explain what the Borealis is i know its a ship but whats its for an why does Eli want to destroy it?

The Borealis is a ship that was owned by Aperture Science Laboratories. The lab was second rate (compared to Black Mesa, to which ASL saw as a competitor that they were losing to for government contracts), and their attempts at trying to beat Black Mesa lead to technological advancements that were both dangerous and unstable (GLaDOS is a clear example of this). The Portal Gun that was developed by ASL, though apparently a successful project, is only the tip of the iceberg to what they've done. The Borealis may hold more advanced Portal technology that even goes further from what they did with the Portal gun. This is even more suggested because Kleiner says that the ship, as well as some of the drydock that the ship was at, disappeared. This description matches that of a portal that has apparently swallowed part of an area after it was open.
That is why Eli wants it destroyed, because if the ship has a bigger, badder and more advanced Portal technology, then it could clearly be used to reopen the portal to the Combine world, or even open an unstable Portal that would probably rip the world apart. Either way, it's a bad thing.
