I think those freaky dog-like things that bounced around and sucked your energy were the most startling enemies from the first hl. The noises they made were awesome.. but i always felt a little bad when I killed them cause they make a sound like a dog whimpering.. they should definitely bring those guys back though.

Bullsquids might be neat. What I'd really like to see again are Ichthyosaurs.
I'd like to see Chumtoads show up again. Those little buggers are a riot. Snarks were cool little fellas too.
WHat Id like to see adressed are Adrian Shepard's stasis and the return of the Race X Aliens From "Opposing Force". At least an acknowledgement. Perhaps a weaker Gene Worm as a level boss somewhere.
It is implied GlaDOS survives the end of Portal. Maybe Gordon could face "her" as a level Boss on the Borealis.
Maybe hear about surviving HECU soldiers from HL and Opposing Force functioning as freedom fighters in other parts of the globe.

What about the antlions? I always thought they were alien critters (one heckuva mutation if that's the case). And you see an icthyosaur in the original HL2 near the beginning, which was clearly stated in HL1 to be alien.
'Course, it was in the middle of a teleporter malfunction, so I suppose that technically you don't have to be on earth.
Regardless, in the episodes, when they are talking about the portal opening and aliens pouring out of it, Dr. Vance says, "It'll be the Seven Hour War all over again." So, clearly, there is an alien presence on earth and they have a way to open a portal back to their world (which is what they are doing in the episodes anyway).
