SPOILER - beginning and ending?

The movie starts out with someone who seems to be burying a body in the dark. Then statement of "Three months earlier." Then how the movie ends does not jive with that eery beginning. ?????????????????/

The beginning is supposed to be about the point when about 30 min into the movie when he is burying the body. Then the story continues from there.
