A funny bit of censorship in the director's interview...

On the sixth DVD (US) there is a director's interview, where he is talking about early films that he liked.

He starts off by mentioning Jinginaki Tatakai (aka The Yakuza Papers), and then goes on to mention "Nikkatsu independent films" according to the subtitles.

I don't speak Japanese, but what he really says is "Nikkatsu Roman Porno", which is a genre of "romantic softcore" films from the 70s, made by the studio Nikkatsu. This is further proven by the director he mentions, Noboru Tanaka, who is known for directing many of these films.

Maybe Anime Works thought it would be bad taste to mention the word "porno" on their DVDs, which are aimed at 13 Up.
