Is it getting good reviews?

Just wondering if it's kind of a comeback for Kaige Chen...

one of the open secrets in China right now is the movie industry is a money laundering mechanism for alot of rich tycoons who either made their money illicitly or embezzled.

the box office numbers can't be trusted, same as you can't trust the "news" from China. everything is hyped and given a positive spin in order to not lose face.

"wu ji" ("promise") was also rumored to have done fantastically at the box office, but seriously you have to wonder who had the patience to see it several times in order for that to be possible?

". . . . you can't trust the "news" from China."

To make mention of that could make it appear to be unique. It isn't: one cannot trust the "news" from FOX.

Nor can one trust most of the "news" from mainstream US "news" media, as it is continually slanted to whitewash the actions of "conservative" "Republicans," as can be seen with the Bush criminal enterprise and the war crime that is torture. The media perpetuates that enterprise's lie that it is instead "enhanced interrogation techniques".

Little is reported about "Republican" sex scandals, regardless how extreme and out of the mainstream. But let a Democrat have an afair -- which are typically heterosexual -- and the media can't report on it enough.

Mixed. It did very well at the B.O in China though.
