why should i rent this?

is this flick worth the buck?

"if yu see Kaye, why we yu?"

reply

Absolutely. It's great:-)

Who cares whether you rent it? Pretty dumb question too, as films are so subjective.

No. Its an unfortunate waste of good talent. Sometimes actors just need a paycheck and hope for the best. As Alec Baldwin said in "Inside the Actors Studio", sometimes you read a script that promises a trip to the Caribbean, but when you show up with your bags packed they tell you there wasn't enough money so you're going to Newfoundland instead. And by the time the producers or studio have changed things its too late to back out.

This plot probably looked pretty good on paper, and it sounded good to me in a synopsis. But its a horrible movie. Alas!

I watched it last night because I couldn't sleep and it was raining. Thought is was pretty decent mystery flick (not grisly horror). Could have been because of the atmosphere I was in though which often dictates how you perceive a film. It's not horrible and the cast is great. Don't expect to be blown away, but it's also not a movie that you step away from. Give it a go!

this is a reaching 8 for mystery genre lovers - throw in a good cast and some ambiguous conclusion and you are easily getting you value for money.

it's better tha mulholland drive

With all due respect, your question should be is this flick worth 95 minutes of my time. A dollar is basically nothing, if a dollar is so important to you that you have to ask if you should spend it, then you really should hang on to that dollar.

So, yes, any film is worth a dollar, even the worst because it is art, even if it is bad art you can always find something worth a dollar, a shot, a bit of dialogue, an acting performance, a pretty face you have never seen, etc.

But your most valuable commodity as a human being is your time. That is how you should measure the value of something including spending your time watching movies.

Is this flick worth 95 minutes of your undivided attention? No. I watched it while doing some mindless work, it did it's job of keeping me company and awake.

I say yes. The direction and writing are rather exceptional. It's a unique who-done-it.
