failed effort

before i make comments about the film, i start with something else...

there's a blog in Turkish about surrealism, which has many visitors. there was an article on that blog, actually an interview with the director of "Gomeda" about Turkish cinema. from his comments, he likes almost none of Turkish films. even for the best ones, he finds something bad and rejects. that's ok, he does not have to like (btw i dont try to defend Turkish cinema, i dont like to categorize art with "country" or "ethnicity" but there are respectable Turkish directors)

and one user made a comment about it: "without a doubt, Turkish cinema is low [or could be translated as "inferior", or "sucks"]. i looked at the profile of that user... one of his favourite movies was... Gomeda!

Gomeda tries too hard to be "interesting" with absurd, surreal images but fails. it's simply a bad movie. but director of this movie was very harsh against critics: he tried to mean that who don't like this film are retards who don't understand a s--t about things like psychoanalysis and subtext reading.

so is this the conclusion?
-Gomeda can not be understood by stupid people because it's a high-form-of-art
-Jan Švankmajer's works are rated high because they are understood, which means stupid people follow them

bye all, now i must go and destroy my archive of Teshigahara, Švankmajer, Buñuel...
