West Midland???

How long ago was this shot? West Midland was renamed to Woodbridge ages ago to make it sound like it isn't Midland...

Why do you mention 'West Midland'? The film starts with the characters baording the train on Midland Station.

"West Midland... She makes it sound like it's going to be ok. We're all in it together"

the film was shot in April of 2005. The stations changed names about this time but the screenplay would have been written months before. The play was written yeahs before that as well.

no *beep* woodbridge was called west midland...i geuss thats like armadale and mt helana, good neighbourhoods in *beep* areas so change the suburb name.

There's a little speech about "west midland" about how identifying part of midland as west midland should make a difference to how people feel about it and themselves.

I stopped working in Midland in early 2006 and it was 'Woodbridge' for a long time before that. It's a good speech/line from the play though and probably not worth losing when only a few people know that West Midland is now called Woodbridge. Plus, since the play was written years ago, the movie could also be set years ago, like in 2001 maybe?

Has anyone had a look if the trainline-map stickers in the shots filmed on the real train have Woodbridge or West Midland on them?

I mean, there's also he bit where at guildford or somewhere, the doors open and there's a shot of city lights and i think a river... where there isnt in real life, and 'tall thug' talks about someone living in units there. It's not how the train line actually goes, but very few people would know that and it ultimately doesn't matter.

I grew up in the area, from when I was 10 and I'm a train buff as well, most stand out thing for me was how they made the train look like only one carridge, those older models hav the divider in between with the doors.

But yes... the geography was sometimes wrong and Success Hill was never mentioned as a next stop or one that would be skipped and Bassendean is never skipped as it's the halfway point, "B" trains always went express from Bassendean to Midland and "A" trains go from Bassendean to Claisebrook. Found this a little bit weird but... oh well.

More importantly, Karrakatta CEMETERY? It's just 'Karrakatta'. Anyway, that's my stop (where I live), I was glad to see it get special mention in the film.

The film is very explicitly set in 2001. At the end, the "Tall Thug" references the Verdi music playing over the train's speakers, and comments that it is the 100th anniversary of Verdi's death. Verdi died in 1901.
