another bad UK ripoff

I've been waiting for 2 weeks to see this show and I told everyone about it. Boy, what a mistake that was. I didn't care for it at all. They really need a narrator. I thought it would be similar to AFV but pranks. You could REALLY tell it was a knock-off of a European (UK)show. The music is horrible. Though there were a few funny bits, it wasn't very good. Bring back Allen Funt!!!! Now THAT was a good show. I won't be bothering to tape this again.

The laugh track is so lame. But hands down what is most annoying is the over use of body language b/c they don't use sound. You can tell the "actors" know there is no sound, b/c of the way they over use their hands and expressions. So OTT.

I call it "Just for Yawns."

Just another thing the Americans take from a country thats not theres.
Too bad they can't think of stuff themselves.

Note on the ABC site: ABC's hidden camera series.

Bulls***. It's not ABC's hidden camera series, its CBC's hidden camera series.
(With sometimes credited to the Comedy Network. Which is NOT Comedy Central for those who cant tell the difference.)

Its not a UK rip off. Its filmed in Montreal and other parts of Quebec. Where do you think the just for laughs festival is held...

Plus, this show has been on for a LONG time on canadian televison, so what you see is pretty old.

It does get old at times, but some of the pranks are funny.

reply

Yeah. You can tell it's Canadian from the slower pace and the look of it. Also, if you notice the parking meters, they're set past the sidewalks, close to the buildings, because of the snow.

"Bring back Allen Funt"

-- Yeah dude, I'd be all for bringing back Allen Funt, except he's been dead for about 8 years. Wait, I still am - because he would probably be funnier dead than he ever was alive.

I like this show, it's more creative than the regular crap on TV. The fact that it doesn't have a narrator is great - that's the worst part of AFV and it's brethren. The show is original, it's standing on its own - people like you hollering about every show NOT being a knockoff is leading to the cesspool of unoriginal "reality" garbage that is TV nowadays.

I am going to assume that you are mostly Americans-

This show has been on forever in Canada, and other parts of the world.
I'm sorry they didn't Americanize it for you, but it seems that you are the only ones not laughing.

The comedy troop is Québécois french. The show is filmed in Montreal. I highly doubt there's a british lining around anything they do. Care to explain? (No! don't) You can't.

A narrator would ruin the gags. Don’t think this show to be related to that inane Bob Saget “family humor.”

beaverbarrelmonkey, I lived in the UK for quite a few years and they regularly play this rubbish. I don't know a single English person that likes this, in fact we all thought it was French as they seem to have an odd sense of humour... Crap is crap, in any country mate!! Maybe this caters to simple minded people who like Benny Hill (again, no one in England likes that either!).

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it...

i enjoy many types of humour, some of those being fairly simple, others being quite layered... someone who can't understand how a person could enjoy both simple and more complex comedy is clearly the one who is guilty of being simple minded

no, don't put a narrator on it. that what makes afv so horrible. just play the sound of the actul event. the people's reaction is what's funny. when you can't hear it, its pretty boring. they have alot of great ideals, but lose the crappy muisc and play the sound from the scene, or.....bring back candid camera!

The show has been on in Canada for ever, and I try to avoid it as much as possible. In my opinion its one of the worst things to air on television ever, so thats why I was shocked when I heard ABC was gunna air it, and then even more shocked when I found out just a minute ago that its actually a hit. "Variety also observed that ABC's one ratings winner this past summer was Just for Laughs, originally produced for Canadian TV."

I'm Canadian, and I'm not laughing. Why else do you think they use a laugh track?
Some of these gags are in such poor taste, they actually make me feel ashamed for my country.

Your Country isn't to proud of you either. Comedy should have few boundaries. If it offends you, watch something else.

I loved this show.

I think it's SOOOOOOO good without a narrator. If they put in a narrator, they will ruin it.

Can you believe that bitch gave me the kids menu?!?!

reply

How can you not love this show? LOL, It's the funniest prank show I've seen since Just Kidding. I don't think this is a British knock off, and it's filmed in Canada.

Yes, this show is really unoriginal and is a waste of time to watch and be apart of. People actually have things they need to do and I could tell if I was being punked. Saw part of an episode tonight just to reference how bad it is, two traffic cops were screwing around with people like a$$holes and wasting their time and gas. People have places to be, if I was late to a date because of this crap it my blood vains would be brought to a boil. "Pathetic coaster material that should not be viewed by anyone," you heard it from me. If you are looking for a great UK spinoff, check out Whose Line is it Anyway.

reply

you're right, it is a waste of time to be apart from it, so you should be together with it all the time... now whose line is it anyway the spinoff, there's a show you want to be apart of, i.e. a long way from

you need to calm down, i think... you could afford 5 minutes of your time to be on tv, and if you can't, it's your own fault for procrastinating...
