Am I the only one who absolutely loved this film?

I thought it was fantastic and one of the best horror movies I've seen in ages. I can't wait for Romero's next film!!

I'm really excited for Romero's next film despite the fact I can't say I'm a huge fan of this one. I thought it was OKAY, but had lots of flaws, all of which have been said countless times on this board. I thought it was his weakest, but I still enjoyed it for what it was. I respect Romero for experimenting with a new style, the subjective camera. It's cool to see the old man is still willing to try something different to keep his zombie genre fresh and not get repetitive. It's still a hell of a lot better than most zombie films but I still can't say I loved it. I can watch Night, Dawn, Day, and Land over and over and over again and not get sick of them but I can't do the same for Diary, probably due to the acting. It annoys me every time.

I am glad, however, to see some people such as yourself say they love it. There's far too many posts that just say, "omg, this movie is HORRIBLE!". It gets a little annoying, especially when I don't think it is HORRIBLE. And it annoys me when some people say Romero just needs to stop making films because he's "lost it". I don't see that at all. Diary was one small misfire. Every director has one of those. But there's also a lot of Land haters so I guess it's all a matter of opinion. But, in my opinion, every new film by Romero is cause for a celebration.

Cops or Criminals. When you're facing a loaded gun what's the difference?

I wouldn't say I loved it but I enjoyed it. The tidal wave of negativity greatly benefited my viewing experience I believe. Funny how all these so-called opinions of negativity turned out, for me, to HELP my liking of the film simply by making me go into the film with zero expectation.

Just goes to show the only opinion that ultimately matters in affairs such as this is your own...

I enjoyed it also.

Good point(s) reanimate lovecraft. I can imagine that in a decades time or so this film might get a bit more recognition than what it's currently getting (which isn't hard because what positive recognition it does recieve is minimal and, on the evidence on this board, marginalized at best). Perhaps the current audience, like wine, just needs some time to mature eh?

Here's hoping...

Hovis!

I agree with everything you said reanimate, and I'm also glad to see I'm not the only person who thought this was a good film. You're right, Day of the Dead WAS very much hated by critics and audiences when it was first released but now is considered a classic.

I like it but didnt love it. I havent seen the perfect zombie film yet..X

Nope, you're definitely not the only one who loved this movie!!!!!!! I thought it was amazing and I LOVED it!!! I'm glad there is someone else who can enjoy this movie. Some people just dont get it, some poeple only like garbage like Resident Evil and The Grudge, and some poeple are just idiots. Can't wait for another Romero film, he is a genuis!

No, you are not the only one who loved this film. Dont worry about the fools who start typing 'Worst movie ever!' at the beginning of a film and then press enter right before the end credits. These people have no appreciation of what it takes to make a movie and have their smug little checklist of perfection filled out before they even give a film a go. Everyone has an opinion and nobody's opinion is 'right' or it wouldnt be an opinion, it would be simply a fact. We all have things that we draw the line at. For some, its the modern running zombies, for others, its the use of hand held camera. For me, it was the ceiling-climbing zombies in the remake of Day of the Dead: in fact, thats probably what I would consider to be one of the very worst zombie films ever. But even then, theres still something positive to say if you arent a rigid thinking juvenile. The makeup in the Day remake was good, for example. I can see that, but the movie as a whole was hard for me to like in the least. So, let's be a little more open minded, shall we? Any idiot can sit back and make exaggerated remarks that contain no substance whatsoever, but we CAN like something despite it having what we personally perceive as flaws. For the record, I am a life long fan of horror and especially zombies & I enjoyed the slow walkers of Romero, the runners of the Dawn remake, the bio zombies of Resident evil, the manic corpses of reanimator, the decayed zombies of Bianchi and fulci, and the infected people in 28 days/weeks and Rec/quarantine. It IS possible to like a variety of perspectives, that is, if your ego will allow it.
But hey, you gotta love George!

Hi there, Im sorry to say that I don't remember you spectre, but I must have made an impact on you for you to remember me, so thanks! What a compliment!

It's always good to see someone who has so little else to do but to come to a thread which was obviously intended for fans to say how much they love the movie, and then trash it. I think you have proven yourself the exception to the troll-army though,as you obviously know what you are talking about. I mean, you really have a way with words, made obvious by your 5 time use of the hugely insightful word 'crap' and then you blew us all away with 'cinematography'- that's 6 syllables! I'm so proud of you!

To cap it all, you guessed correctly that my name is Lucy! You said that you remembered me but maybe you are a stalker as well, hmmm? If you really are that impressed with me, we should go on a date to see 'Diary of the Dead'!!!!I'm also impressed that you admit that you have a massive ego, that's the first big step to improving yourself.Well done! Unfortunately, that massive ego means that you simply won't be able to stop yourself from responding to this message, so that's our loss. But, maybe you will surprise us with silence, fingers crossed!!!

Back on the topic of 'Diary of the Dead' though, I loved the pool scene and wish that we had seen more of it. Creepy stuff!

Thats a good point Spectre. I thought that too. What I meant by my comment was that I thought the underwater zombies looked cool and was a creepy effect, but it was kinda annoying when they suddenly worked out how to escape JUST in time for the main attack. I actually dont feel that the zombies could EVER get out of there, unless there were stairs. I think from memory that they climbed up the side or up a ladder, both of which seem unlikely.I could be wrong. I thought this movie was great, but by no means am I saying that it is flawless by any stretch of the imagination. :-)

I actually thought it was very good and could care less what the haters think.

Yea this was a great movie aside from little flaws that all movies have. But spectre up there is pretty whack. Prolly some film making wanna be who has his own style and vision of wat is good and thinks he is right about everything. shows how much he knows considering this was a great Romero movie.
