Should I bother with Diary and Survival?

I've seen Night, Dawn, Day and Land. I own all four of them on DVD.

I am well aware that there are now two others in the series: Diary and Survival.

I am reluctant to watch them. I saw a part of Diary on TV and it looked totally terrible. Survival seems even more odd... it got some pretty bad reviews and is set in the Old West or something?

I'm sure you can see my problem now. Are Diary and Survival worth watching? I think Land is pretty far out there, because Night, Dawn and Day are the one true series. But these last two movies look pretty bad.

i loved survival of the dead... I actually got it on DVD because i liked it so much.. but sadly I'm one of the few who did like it...

I am the exact same situation when it's about the second Blair Witch-movie. It seesm like that I'm the only one in the whole world who asolutely loves it!

I'm watching Diary of the Dead right now on Youtube...it's not bad but not great, pretty much a sub-par land of the dead (which also wasn't that good) but it's free so whatever :D

I wouldn't really call Diary and Survival part of the series - if anything, they are the start of a completely seperate series. They have no connection to Night, Dawn, Day and Land, they show the start of the outbreak in Diary, set in modern times, so it's not part of the same series, and neither is Survival.

And thankfully so, imo, as they are utter rubbish.

I think Romero said that this series particular series is the new school audience. Diary & Survival were okay but they weren't as good as the others. Land & Day, for some weren't as good as Night & Dawn but I still loved them.

Same here. Survival was a bit disappointing but it had promise. The ending pissed me off. Diary was pretty damn awesome, to be honest with you.

I think they are both horrible. Diary had some horrible acting. Survival looked like a Sci-Fi channel movie.

Yes you should. I think that the original trilogy were clearly superior to the later three films, but there is enough here to make it worth at least looking at them. George Romero is a very gifted filmmaker. Even if the entire film does not grab you (as I feel about Land and Survival, though I enjoyed Diary) there will be several scenes that grab your attention and are worth seeing. Even bad Romero is better than the best that most directors in the horror genre can come up with
