3. Dawn of the Dead
4. Land of the Dead
5. Diary of the Dead

A bit unorthodox, but not totally out of line.

reply

Exactly the order they were made in... though I really don't care what is considered better out of Diary and Survival.

Dawn Day Night Land Diary. Easy really, ha ha!

Unfortuately, I have not seen the entire 'Night of the Living Dead', so cannot pass judgement, though will make it my aim to watch it soon. (I know that it is blasphemy to say something like that in the Romero universe)

reply

Well, let me first make clear that I think they're all extraordinary films, so I'm ranking among equals here. But if I had to rank them:

1. Dawn
2. Night
3. Diary
4. Day
5. Land

I know you said no remakes but the remake of dawn was pretty damn good

You are kidding, right??

reply

the remake of dawn of the dead was a great movie. much better than land of the dead and diary of the dead from romero.

reply

The remake of DAWN is better than Land of the Dead, I think LAND is the absolute worst of the Romero films.

Frankly, I think he should've stopped at Day. I appreciate that his movies have an underlying social commentary but as horror, they've become increasingly mediorce and, following Dawn, the message gets more and more overstated.

1/ Dawn of the Dead
2/ Night of the Living Dead
3/ Day of the Dead
4/ Land of the Dead
5/ Diary of the Dead.

Needless to say though, all of the originals are better than the remakes of the first three. But Diary of the Dead is the only one to annoy me because of the behaviour of some of the characters towards the end of the movie which seemed completely unrealistic and resulted in the resulting carnage.

I 'want' to blame that on the character's panicking but all the other movies have made me believe the situation, while Diary towards the end seemed to go into 'omg why are they doing that, why are they walking that way 'towards' the zombies and the all important 'why have they not killed that zombie by killing it in the head - they just knocked it out and walked away, wtf, it will jsut get up and kill everyone later!!!? moment'.

1. Dawn

Look at me I have an intelligent quote about life and society from an overrated movie.

This will be mostly an unpopular list, but *beep* you all, it's my list:

1) Dawn of the Dead (also in my top 25 of all time)
2) Night of the Living Dead
3) Diary of the Dead
4) Land of the Dead
5) Day of the Dead (like it more times I see it, but I also think it's very flawed)

The day I follow Aubrey Hale Clayton on a wet deck - that day, I cut my throat.

1. Day of the Dead (the best effects of the old movies, the best intro scene)

The ol classic "HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO, IS ANYONE THEREEEEEEEEE?, HELLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO".....

2. Night of the Living dead...its spookyness, its just amazing

3. Dawn of the dead...Lots of action and fun characters, peter and roger

4. Land of the dead..It was a good film I think, not amazing though

5. Diary of the dead...I actually liked the film, I think its different and a good change. It needed more action though...more zombies
