The Sasquatch costumes were not bad at all if you paid attention to the plot. If watched the movie, you'd know the Sasquatch theory was that they were actually humans who had been living primitively and inbreeding for hundreds of years. They would have been wild and all *beep* up, but still human. Their clothing would have been animal pelts and looked to be probably bear. In that way, I think they were pretty spot on realistic. The film also uses the classic technique of showing the "monster" in only limited shots. This doesn't have to be only from budget, it can also allow the imagination of the viewer to kick in, which in my opinion can be more fun. I personally thought the creature scenes of the movie where pretty scary.
