Two things about Rochel and her mom

First, Rochel's accent was very strange, and didn't sound like either her mom or her dad. It might very well be appropriate for orthodox Jews in Brooklyn, but people grow up to sound at least a little like their families.

Second, Rochel's mom looked Sephardic (southern, darker skinned Jews), not Ashkenazi (European, ligher skinned Jews). Not that there's anything wrong with that, but Rochel's family was clearly Ashkenazi, and it looked like Rochel's mom was playing a game of, "One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn't belong . . . "

I asked the doctor to take your picture so I can look at you from inside as well.

Actually, Rochel was an adopted child... but that's another story for another time.

People from around the caucasus and some russian jews are not sephardic, but can have darker skin.

IT'S A MOVIE.. these people are not really related.

I'm not crazy M'Lynn, I've just been in a very bad mood for forty years.

You do realize these are actors playing a part right? Don't confuse the actors with the characters they portray.
