One MILLION hours?

The trivia for this movie suggests that over a MILLION hours went into producing this movie, but I imagine how that's even remotely true as a million hours is like.. 114 YEARS. Typo, I imagine?

Isn't this like saying 114 employees devoted one year of their lives to working on the movie? Of course, that's still a little bit of a stretcher, as I doubt any of the 114 worked 24-hour days.

P.S.: Loved the movie!

But darkness makes me fumble for a key...to a door...that's wide open.....

Yeah, but they can stretch that by counting the time the computers spent rendering. So, the team setup a program that runs overnight, the the 'team' worked all night... even while they slept.

Believe me it can take take long to produce a film, I've worked in computer animation and graphic design, and it can be pretty time consuming to create something. Even though it's done on computers, animation can be just as meticulous as doing cell animation. You have to be sure that the subject moves properly and is atomically correct. Plus making it talk like a normal person takes time to make sure facial movements are intact. When merging a subject with a background, you have to make sure it fits and doesn't overpower. Plus one three minute scene has various different layers that have to work continuously and don't overlap. A simple 90 minute animation film can take up to two to three years before it's completed.

The movie supported, and i quote from the credits "12,000" jobs. So that's a lot of animators working on one film, thus, 1 Million hours = 114 years, becomes 2 years through spread work load.

A million man - hours. At 8 hour days and 250 working days per year that is 500 people working full time for one year, or 250 people for two years, 125 people for 4 years..
