What opera is he listening to?

There is a scene where William H. Macy sits in a living room and from a small tape deck an opera is being played. Then Meg Ryan comes in, wanting to speak to Macy, and makes a derogatory remark about the music. 'Can you turn of this crap', something like that.

What music was it? In the credit lines the only reference made to classical music is Una Furtiva Lagrima by Gaetano Donizetti.

Can anyone confirm this was it, and if not, what was it?

Already got it confirmed elsewhere. It is indeed Una Furtiva Lagrima.

The opera is Elisir D'Amore. The aria is Una Furtiva Lagrima. It;'s actually a comic opera.

I don't know the music, but seems like a great choice. Very dramatic - or melodramatic - and title means "a furtive tear." This from a guy who's all surface and doesn't like to show his real feelings or even admit to having any.

Interesting choice - Woody Allen used the Caruso recording of "Una Furtiva Lagrima" in "Match Point."
