What is the cable hanging over the car's left side thru the gap in the engine hood for? When his car won't start (almost always), he asks someone (or tries to do it himself!) to pull on the cable while he tries to start the engine.

Finally, another car guy here that wondered the same thing. I'm thinking that MB should have been a fuel injected car, but I was thinking it must be some type of choke to allow a richer mixture. What idea did you have? george in tallahassee
