The movie was interesting as the reflection on the soviet times. The actor who played the maniac was great. Very convincing. Too convincing. Just like his mother. She must be a real bum hired to be in a movie for a reward bottle of vodka. I'm sure they saved a great deal on make-up and wardrobe.

Few scenes in the end were simply diabolically awful.

The story and plot was a bit scattered, professor of atheism path to god subplot was weak.
