I think i've just fallen in love with a fictional character... again. Blake Ritson played Edmund really well but the whole adaption was neither amazing nor a disaster. I just have to say this: Blake Ritson was the main reason why i endured the whole 2 hours of it. I'm talking about his acting...not his looks...of course.. God i'm so shallow.
Pretty funny reading this old post. I've seen this adaptation several times since March of 2007, and now I have very little use for it. Maybe I liked it in comparison with MP99. Who knows.
Actually you can see it. I am danish and I saw it on a website.
You shall go to www.alluc.org Then you click on the link called movies. And at the top of the site you click on ,,M" and then you will find it and figure the rest out.
Enjoy :D
PS: Not perferct quality of course, but still quite good!
I thought Blake Ritson played Edmund really well, he has so much expression in his eyes and it was a wonderful scene when he realised he loved Fanny. I really enjoyed this adaption.
i thought he was BRILIIANT. easy enough on the eye too... oh who am i kidding, i thought he was gorgeous. i can't stop wacting the part where he's running down the stairs after fanny, he looks freaking gorgeous!!! mmm cx
Oh I thought he was sooo very cute!! Those big expressive eyes and well defined features but still having a boyish babyface quality which I love!! he was just totally adorable, *swoon* And he did a great job acting too, what more could you ask for!
He had a hard job - Edmund always comes off as a bit of a prig in the book. But here we could see that he was just a good, kind, sensible person - as opposed to a self-righteous goody-two-shoes....
Oh yes.He was the main reason why it was worth seeing for me...Very good acting!I enjoyed this Edmund even little more than in MP 1999.And,those big dreaming eyes, hmmm:)
Yep, he has elevated Edmund in my list of hot Austen guys - the guy playing him in the 1999 film did absolutely nothing for me. Ritson was one of the few good things about this adaptation.
I've loved Blake Ritson ever since I saw him in the BBC documentary The Romantics, in which he plays P.B.Shelley. So I was pleasantly surprised when I found out that he was playing Edmund in this Mansfield Park version. His eyes! Oh my, I have never seen anyone with eyes as beautiful as his... couldn't stop looking at them... and he is a great actor too, of course, his facial expressions, his voice... I absolutely adore him. Handsome, British, and dressed in Regency clothes, acting in a Jane Austen adaptation what more do you want? I didn't really warm to Edmund in the novel but now that I see Blake Ritson's face in front of me when I imagine Edmund, has made him one of my favourite Jane Austen male characters (in the adapted versions, not in the novels).
I've never heard of Blake Ritson until this so I had misgivings about him at first. I have to say, after watching MP, that I have fallen under his spell. It must be those eyes or that lovely smile! There is something very byronic and irresistible about him.
I have to say that he has since been one of my favorite Austen heroes and period drama heroes. I LOVE JJ Feild as Henry Tilney as well, so both of these actors rank up there among my favorites.

This Edmund is far better than the 1999 movie one.
Ouch, harsh! I personally loved both Jonny Lee Miller in the '99 version AND Blake Ritson in the '07 version, and can't pick my favourite Edmund between them. For me, both were the best part of otherwise not very good adaptations.
Btw, you should check out the new BBC mini-series of Emma to see JLM as Mr. Knightley and BR as Mr. Elton - it's lovely to see two Edmund Bertrams at once, even if both are playing rather different characters (especially Ritson ;-)).

I absolutely adored him! He was so handsome and I loved the last scene when he realizes he loves Fanny. After the movie ended, I was so disappointed, I wanted more! Oh btw- does anyone think he slighly resembles Adrien Brody? Especially his eyes and bone structure.

That's entirely Jane Austen's fault, she created these men, lol! So be shallow, be shallow!!
For some reason, he kinda reminds me of Adrien Brody in the face (who I think is hot too), but maybe I'm the only one.
