It was hard to watch

because you just feel so bad for the main character who lost her daughter and then also the stray she lets live in her home is not a likable character for me.

Well, I certainly felt for the Sigourney Weaver character, losing her daughter like that, I'm sure she relived that moment many many times, wishing she she had done things just a little differently.

The mental and emotional anguish would be hard to live with.

The only parts I found hard to watch where when things were going wrong and people acted out of anger or frustration. But the great thing about this movie was that it showed that people let go of that anger and frustration and acted on their intelligence instead. Yes, Louise was a bit of a mess, but so was Julia in her own way. But the friendship they formed helped them both move from a place of hurt to a place of hopefulness. I think this is one of the most uplifting movies I have ever seen.
