Was Celeste's brother gay?

I assume that the character Leo, played by Stephen Kunken, is Celeste's (=Keri Russell) brother. Was he supposed to be gay? He and Chris were exchanging looks, and it seemed that Chris wanted to impress him when he was dangerously balancing on the stairway rail in order to repair the light (which resulted in Chris ending up in the hospital). Also, Louise implied that Chris was gay and confronted him with it; could it be that Chris actually fancied Leo (and/or vice versa)?

I thought for the whole movie (up until he talked to Louise at the wedding dinner) that it was going to be revealed in the end that he was the one who had killed Maggie. Like maybe the dad already knew the mom through work and he was a neighbor, or something. Because he did seem sketchy and exchanging weird glances with everyone.

But nope lol
