Horribly misleading DVD packaging.
I was in Barnes and Noble the other day and saw this film filed in the horror section, which I'm assuming was a mistake simply because of the cover artwork; the US Region 1 DVD art makes the film look like some edgy B-grade thriller, when it in fact is a sensitive, slow-going drama film. I bought the DVD, anyhow, and I had a general idea of what it was about (and thoroughly questioned its filing under the horror section); I enjoyed it, and thought it was consistently engaging. Great acting, too, especially from Weaver and Bosworth; my opinion on Kate Bosworth's acting abilities was surely shifted after I watched her in this.
But, seriously, WHAT were the Weinstein Company execs. thinking when they came up with THIS for the cover art of a soft DRAMA film?! -- http://www.flixray.com/dvd_covers/200912/122985.jpg
I mean, maybe they wanted to mislead people into renting/buying it by making the cover all slick, but they could've done something just as nice which actually represents the themes/tone of the movie.
¡Buena suerte!
