Reckon DT could have been nominated for an Oscar if this was a movie?

I reckon with the higher production values of a motion picture and maybe another 1/4-hour longer, this is a piece that would have been nominated for an Oscar... if not for Best Film then certainly Best Male Actor for David Tennant's fantastic performance.

I mean can this man do no wrong? Comedy, quirky, touching... you name it, he can do it. I think he's capable of playing psychopath as well, but was let down by a poor script in ITV's "Secret Smile" last year. In any case, he's easily the country's most adaptable and talented male actor.

As for "Recovery", it surely will win a BAFTA when the awards next come round.

Hmm, there is so much stuff made by mega stars for Oscars, that this might not have a chance.

But if David's performance is as good as I have heard, they need to air it on BBC America, and see if he can get into the running for a possible "best actor in a made for TV movie" Golden Globe!

Whoops, triple posted by accident below. Those three deleted posts were duplicates of this!

Yeah, he is absolutely amazing..! The more and more I see him in the more convinced I am he could play any part. Idk about an Oscar (though he completely deserves it if this were in theaters) but if he doesn't win a BAFTA.. >__<

I don't know about an Oscar, but if this had been a TV movie on HBO, Showtime etc., he totally would have been nominated for an Emmy and probably would have won.

"You may very well think that; I couldn't possibly comment."

He might be nominated for something for acting the part of a disabled person, but that does not mean his skills were worthy of the attention. Lord knows the movie wasn't. And I am not a troll, this is an honest criticism, not another "I love David" post.

Care to back up your honest criticism?

I loved it - even though I only saw it on youtube. It made me cry, I thought the ensemble cast were all excellent. I've not had the experience of going through, or seeing someone I care about going through, the exact same kind of injury, but I have had way too much experience of illnesses which cause the same kinds of problems and symptoms, even if the damage to the brain has been caused in a totally different way.

The depiction of brain injury (regardless of the cause of that injury), the changes it can make in a person's personality, the havoc it can wreak on all their relationships, the difficulties sometimes caused even by those who are supposed to be helping, was painfully real to me. Maybe your experience is different, and I acknowledge that not everyone will identify with the same things, but so much in Recovery echoed experiences within my own family that it was both excruciating and cathartic to watch.

Fair enough if you didn't feel the same, but I am genuinely curious to know why, which you haven't explained.
