The Secret is a cash in plain and simple

First let me start off by saying the idea and practice of visualization at its core actually does work. It is the art of self convincing really. Positive mindset helps a person in this as well. That is a no brainer.

Now this film (and I bet the book as well) blow everything out of proportion making it seem to be a miracle working device. The law of attraction is laughable and has no scientific ground what so ever. This movie makes it seem as if you have to do little to receive anything. Even with the idea of visualization it takes work. That is merely a toll to assist in keeping one on track and confident, a motivator. Speaking with the subconscious the way it understands.

It is disgusting how the people that were apart of this are selling the public this package of filth.

Shut the %$^& up! Don't be a negative Nancy. I'm trying to visualize myself as Spider-man and I already feel new strands of DNA forming inside me so I could stick to walls.. Don't mess this up for me.

I do like the ladies, you know. I do like 'em. Hmm, I like-a them, and they like-a me back.

I agree. It is all just BS.

'Law of attraction' is not laughable. In fact, it could be say that's how magnets work.

Your intense, emotional focus that lasts for an extended period of time, will have an effect on Universe. Quantum physics is full of puzzles that can't really be explained by 'conventional materialism'.

But there are limits. You can't just have anything and everything you want just by wishing it. Otherwise, poor people wouldn't exist, hungry people wouldn't exist, everyone would have time machines, planetary portals, HDR monitors, private pollutionless, UFO-like spacecrafts, there wouldn't be any kind of misery whatsoever. No one can suffer misery or pain without at least at some point in some level wishing for it to end, or something better.

Thoughts can have a profound impact on our health, for example. If you think you have a bad cancer, it's possible that eventually, that cancer will manifest itself (or if you have a mild cancer, it can get worse), and conversely, if you think your cancer is no problem and everything is fine, even a bad cancer can actually turn into a harmless one (though I take no responsibility if someone tries this because I typed it).

Bruce Lee actually wrote a lot about this stuff - he talked about having emotion-backed determination to reach your goals, as if it was something that's an undeniable fact that simply works.

But there are circumstances, there are limitations, and there are things like karma, life plan, and so on. Real spirituality is not based on materialism.

Buddha said that the source of all pain is desire. This movie wants people to sell their souls to their desires and forget how to just be content, just by existing.

A human being is like a fridge magnet - it can attract metal surfaces and other magnets, but it can't turn itself to a luxury cruise ship, or move whole buildings just by willing it. There is a limited potential in all of us (and a lot more as latent potential).

And sometimes, no matter how much you wish for something, you are not going to get it. There can be a lot of reasons for this, I can list a few that come to mind.

- It is impossible for you to have
- You are not supposed to have it
- It would hinder / destroy your life plan / be adding to your karmic load
- It's not in the cards for you

An old, wrinkled hag cannot change her physical body to a young, fruitful and fresh, beautiful woman's body no matter how hard she wishes. There are realities and limitations.

But she can find a book she has always wanted to have, if she focuses hard enough, provided that the book exists within her reach somewhere.

It works TO AN EXTENT, but don't expect miracles or complete overhauls just because you wish it. Sometimes your wish and life are in direct opposition, and in those cases, life wins. Someone you like will die, something you rely upon will break, and you will lose something that can't be replaced.

This is life, it happens. It's better to deal with it and let go than have beliefs and false hope that eventually will only lead to more misery.
