How old is too old to want to go to the American Girl Place?

Because I'm thirteen, and dammit, I still want to go some day. >=(

Trust me, you aren't too old to want to go. I'm 35 and I'm dying to go. I'm taking my daughter this fall to the one opening in Dallas, and I know that I'm just as excited as she is.

I can't wait to take my daughter there next year to get her own doll. (She's already picked Kit, which I am psyched about... Kit's been my #2 favorite ever since they came out with her!)

Do you think I would look like a dork if I carried around my circa-1991 Molly doll with me? :-P

Almost five years later, but NO. Moms carry their doll around all the time - and brothers carry around their Bitty Baby. You can even 'borrow' a doll if you didn't bring one. Oh, and my Mom is in her 70s and loved it. So did my sister, who is in her 40s and doesn't have a daughter.

I'm fifteen and finally got to go this march and loved it.... i went to the cafe and got one of my dolls hair done and everything!!!!

I'm 19 and I wanted to go ever since I was 13. I'm begging my brother to give me a niece so I can take her heh heh. Or I'll just take my little cousins. ^_^

I'm 14 and went to the one in chicago. I loved it and I want to go again.

I have to tell you, 13 years old is not too old at all! I'm 23 years old, and I can't get enough of it! I went for the first time when I was 13, when the Chicago store opened, and I fondly remember my aunt buying me the newly released Kit doll. I still go occasionally, when I can, and it's always a treat. I actually got my mom to go to the American Girl Revue with me last year! Every once in a while, if I have enough money saved, I like to go and buy a doll and just walk around. I can only do it maybe once a year, but I always look forward to it. It's fun to see the little girls with their parents and grandparents, so excited about getting a doll and eating lunch in the cafe, and honestly, I love it just as much as any 7-year-old around me! It's a great experience if you love American Girl, and it doesn't matter if you're 5 or 45. I hope I have a daughter someday so I can take her!

Are you kidding. There are MANY ADULT collectors who love to go! You're never too old if you like dolls!

Dammit, I'm 20 and am still waiting to go for the first time!

I'm 17 1/2 and I still love the AG Place! It was really nice when we went recently and I want to go again this December!

I didn't get to go until I was 17 (almost 19 now) on my first trip to NYC. I didn't say anything about wanting to go, but a little girl with us wanted to go, so we did, and I almost cried...it was awesome. I also went back again when I went to NY six months later on my high school graduation trip!

(And I'm also tempted to send my Kirsten doll in and have them put her braids back up...my brother took them out of the loops years ago, and it seems impossible to get them just right again.)

reply

If you haven't, I really suggest you do - or take her with you the next time you go. My daughter has a doll with hair like her own and after three years of love, it had just become a mess. It wasn't expensive and looked BEAUTIFUL.

You're not too old as long as you enjoy the dolls and the stories.

I'm going to be 31 before I get to go for the first time, and I'll be going with several other women my age. :o)
