"Nine Dead" plays like an off-Broadway play version of the B-plot of "Saw 5". The story involves all these d-bags that are chained up in a basement or warehouse or something that are linked to something horrible that happened, and the killer comes in and kills one of them every 10 minutes if they can't figure out why they're all there. He even says he'll let them all go and turn himself in if they can figure it out, but instead of maximizing their time to try to work through their problem, they argue a bit before everything just stops in it's tracks so that one of the characters can deliver a monologue that eats up most of the remaining time. Nothing is solved, killer comes in, and another character is dead. This goes on for about an hour before the survivors figure out the ridiculously contrived plot, and it all ends badly.
Oh, and I almost forgot something! When the killer comes in to kill someone, he whispers something to the next victim right before he shoots them. Whether it's the reason they're all there or just that person's part, we don't know, because instead of blurting it out and giving everyone else a fighting chance, the victim says something like "Hmmmm, I guess that IS pretty horrible" before taking a bullet to the face.
