I will never understand you people...

Honestly do any of you understand what it means to be a critic?

The team had 1.4 million dollars to make a movie about Beowulf for TV, how can you possibly compare it to all the other 50 million plus renditions of the story? Do know what it takes to make a movie? Do you think the director was salivating at the millions he was gonna make when his baby hit the TV? Haha come on people. I would guess that he said to himself "Hey, for 1.4 mil we churned out a pretty good time!" And he'd be right. Obviously I liked the other recent adaptations more too but come on...

Also, I just can't believe the number of people who come on to spout their little nuggets from grade 10 high school and base their liking of a movie on a poem that was written so long ago we don't even know the author. Yes, we know all the roles and names and settings and plot points were different. What do you want - a remake with the exact same thing every two years?

Please learn how to look at a movie as a movie, or at least put an obvious disclaimer at the top... something like: THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON THE WAY IT WAS DIFFERENT THAN THE BOOK... then we can all chuckle to ourselves at what an R-tard you are and skip to the thread where people are talking about the movie.

Hi

If you are ging to invent a new story, then why name it after a store from the middle-ages?

If you cant invent it for yourselves, then you must have a degree of faithfullnes of the original work.

Its not the money you putt into a movie that makes it good, it is the story

Historic facts and good story telling isnt necassarily expensive. And for the amount they used it looks great. But I would have saved monet on the special effects and made it the story more tangible... like filming scenes in actually viking villages in Denmark or Sweden.

Storywise it works rather well. And it doesnt really need to be true to the original text which is named "Beowulf" so Pippin-14's argument of naming it after the original story I dont think holds. And "Beowulf" isnt the only version... it is a rather large part of nordic mythology.

To some extents this story is better than both the CGI Beowulf and The Thirteenth Warrior which was good in its own way.

Those are my principles, and if you don't like them... well, I have others.

Yes I agree. But it is only a movie. What is a movie but entertainment and its purpose is to entertain. I swear some people get so critical over nothing, oh my god, it wasn't exactly like the book I read. It wasn't like the last movie I saw with a similar title, get a grip its only entertainment sit back and relax watch the stupid movie. If a movie is a dog then dog it for being bad. The Thirteenth Warrior was good entertainment, as well as Grendel, It was a good laugh!
