This is definitely one of the best films of the series; nevermind that, it is the best SyFy channel movie I have ever seen (and that's saying something cause most of the SyFy movies are utter crap). One of the things that makes me really mad is how many amazon.com reviews trash this film. Sure the ending may have been a bit tragic, but I see it as producing true character growth.
Most SyFy crap movies make the fatal mistake of playing to stereotypes; too much action, bad plot, and weak characters. This movie avoids all these pitfalls and develops a truly fantastic story. Instead of bombarding the viewer with action, this story questions the morals and ethics of the characters and presents a central theme in the story.
I bet most of the people who gave this movie a bad review are those who just want to see nudity and senseless violence. In which case, they should not be allowed to rate, let alone critic, movies at all.
Probably one of the reasons I loved this movie so much was that I recognized that SyFy movies ended up bad so I allowed myself to accept that this movie may have some bad spots, but those are practically nonexistent. When watching this movie, it is important to not see it as a true sequel to the first film (indeed, the storyline does seem to diverge from the themes in the first one), but as a reimagining of the story.
