The rockets scale....oh!

How can so called SFX experts get that so wrong? On the scale exhibited-as the countdown commences and the rockets blasts away-by the time it got to blowing up-it was like, half a mile away. Which makes the planet about the same diameter as the 02 dome in London. Ludicrous!!!
