This movie has a 6.6 while crap has way above that? Nice.

This was one of the most well made thriller/suspense movies in recent times and ever really.

The acting was great from every character. It made you feel every emotion possible, the camera work was great, the score was great, the gore in the movie was central to the revenge and not just torture porn, and it was just an overall great concept.

It made you really contemplate how you would react in a situation like that and what you would feel.

I can't believe movies like this are rated so low on IMDB compared to crappy movies.

as far as horror remakes go, this, the hills have eyes, and texas chainsaw from 2003 are the best. i think they do a good job of capturing the original films but standing on their own. i find this to be a very good film.

Horror movies, especially the non supernatural ones seem always lowly rated. Usually, if a horror movie has 6+ stars here it's a must see for me.

People seem to automatically hate remakes, no matter how good they are. I agree with you though.

I agree too.

Sounds like a fair rating to me.

I agree. This movie was excellent and definitely better than most modern horror films yet it only achieves a mere 6.6 on IMDB. For some reason, good horror movies are always rated between 6 and 6.8 (aproximately) on IMDB unless they're generally-liked supernatural horror films. And some of the stuff that receives high ratings is, as you said, crap. There are even films in IMDB's top 250 that deserve to be in the bottom 250. This was an amazing film which I would rate a 9/10 and the fact it only got 6.6 makes me irritated.

I agree with you, it definitely deserves a much higher rating than that. Apparently re-makes struggle to get high marks, I think someone above said that too.

One thing I have to say is trying to rate a movie with a score out of 10 sometimes just goes really wrong for me so I don't give the movie a numerical rating at all. I think it is better to just talk about what you liked about a movie and what you didn't like most times and then say whether or not you would recommend it. In regards to scores for movies I have had times where I have gone back and changed a rating or removed it because I felt differently after some time about how I rated it. Anyway for this movie I think the only flaw that someone else mentioned was maybe the shiny teeth on the one bad guy. It is unlikely the guy would have had perfect teeth considering the life they seemed to live. So I guess makeup/wardrobe and/or casting could be knocked for this and so with only one real flaw to me showing up in this movie do I give it a 9 out of 10? The thing is I often save scores like that for classic movies but maybe that is the wrong thing to do. I fight with that when rating movies. So ... with all that said .... in regards to this movie, The Last House on the Left (2009), all I can say it is a movie worth watching. That is really what matters.
