Does 'confessing' people require eye contact?

I´ve never read teh books but usually when Kahlan confessed somebody, her eyes locked with theirs for the "magic" to work. Yet the girl-confessor in season 2 was able to confess Richard from behind without eye contact... Was this mentioned in the book(s)?

And how sad was it to see them able to drain that girl of her unwanted power to allow her a normal life but Kahlan´s little nephew had to die. That device should be handed to the confessors so they won´t have to murder their male children anymore. Though going by memory only, not sure if there are any left.

In the books all she has to do is to touch them, no eye contact required. There is a large concusion in the air (no sound) and the victim is then totally devoted to the confessor and she is drained anywhere from several days to a couple of hours- the stronger the power, the faster the recovery- Kahlan takes a couple of hours and can kill by just saying that the one that she touches to die; they fall over dead without anyone (including themselves)touching them. It is called "being touched" in the books, not confessed. Confessors do not have the innate ability to tell if someone is lying.

I hope that helps.

nope they dont require eye contact the eye thing is simply a by product of there power. what they do is fill the person with so much love and positivity they are bound to the confessors touch

I assume they did this for more effect in the Tv show.It looks way cooler than if she just touches someone's toe and bam he's confessed...
