Archer

I don't mean to be trolling (if I was, I would be posting this on the Enterprise thread) but who here thinks that they should completely dissociate Enterprise from the franchise? I don't think he should even be in this game.

You ever read the works of Shan Yu?
Shan Yu the psychotic dictator?

Although I like the Enterprise series alot and I know that the creators of Enterprise seemed to have never seen a episode of TOS since they do things that they mention was never done before their time I have to agree and disagree. Its is part of the Star Trek franchise so it should be in it but it was also a flop in a way compared to the other Star Treks. So as a final note GO TPOL!

I'm not sure how much Star Trek they did watch. It was established that there were no saucer section vessels until either the constellation class or sometime just before it yet they had one before the federation was even created. The NX-01 should have been a cylinder with a ball attached to one end and the nacelles on the bottom (the Earth vessels pre-Federation, the ones that engaged the Romulans). Early on I tried to rationalize it, but then Enterprise got so involved with time travel and aliens like the ones in the wormhole it just started to seem more like a different franchise than a Star Trek series. If they started running it as an alternate timeline franchise, I wouldn't dislike it so much but you've also got the fact that Archer is no Kirk, or Picard, or Sisko, or Janeway.

Yes the other thing that had me thinking was the fact there were no view screens during the Romulan war and yet they had it before they even heard of the Romulans in Enterprise. In TOS they got their first glimpse of a Romulan and saw they looked like Spock and Spock said they may have been a related race, they didnt even get into a big back story and yet Tpol explains most of it in the Enterprise series of who they are and why they left when they encountered them in the minefield. They managed to try and stick with what they said in TOS by not having them pop up on the view screen instead they threatened in audio lol. They tried to make it seem that the Romulans didnt have a view screen but Starfleet did. Even though Kirk said neither had it.

enterprise was THE best star trek series imo

and yes i have seen all of every other star trek series, more than a couple of times

I agree... Enterprise is the BEST of the bunch. I originally gave up on the series and turned away. It was only a few years after the cancellation that I started watching it and got hooked... I even started to hum the theme song that I had originally disliked.

If given the chance, this series will put its hooks in you, and it has some of the best characters in the Star Trek Universe. T'POL, Trip, Archer, Dr Flox, etc. If they had broadcast this on CBS so people could actually find it instead of the network nobody had, I believe it would have been a breakout hit.

reply

Absolutely. Of course whta can you expect from a show made by the idiot (Braga) who has constantly said and proven that he doesn't care about continuity as long as he gets ratings. Enterprise just showed him trhat without continuity there are no ratings.

reply

True, I mean it was up to Manny Coto in the 4th season when he took over to try and make up for the complete and utter mistakes Bevis and Butthead (Berman and Braga) did with the show, solving the ridged forehead klingon problem, explaining why Vulcans act like jerks in the show, and The Wrath of Khan/Space Seed Prequels and Tholian Web sequel "In A Mirror Darkly" two part.

reply

Right. Frak Enterprise. We don't need to blindly follow the official material. It's not like Tolkian: there's no central universe, it's just a lot of different stuff made by different people.
