Kristin Bauer Van Straten Told Me...

That HBO is very interested in doing an Eric / Pam spinoff.

I keep seeing her at conventions and feel like we're stalking each other, but we started talking a couple weeks ago. I told her I miss True Blood and she was just like "mmm... a lot of people do." She cracks me up, FYI. And I jokingly said to her "how do we get it back? I need more!" And she told me that HBO is in talks of bringing it back and doing an Eric / Pam spinoff. I asked her if she'd do it and she said absolutely. I thought to myself that Alexander probably wouldn't, but after a couple bombs at the box office and some time away, he might.

After asking how fans could help make this happen, Kristin told me to tweet to HBO and tell them we want it and we want more True Blood.

I know a lot of people hated True Blood towards the end, but I never got to that point. Yes, I acknowledge that things were stupid and a hot mess, but it was always an interesting hot mess. I never had plans to stop watching it. The show has a very special place in my heart. My boyfriend and I binge watched season one, watched season two live, and were so excited to watch season three when he randomly passed away at the age of 29. He was the first and only person I've ever truly loved. So when I think of the show, I can't help but think of him.

If True Blood never comes back, I'll be fine. But it'd be cool if it did return in some capacity. I'm up for some more mindless fun. And it's been years since it ended. Maybe someone at HBO has some genuinely good ideas about how to resurrect it. And with Game of Thrones ending soon, HBO needs some must watch entertainment back on their network. Would anyone else watch this?

I don't think I would, but FYI in terms of wanting more True Blood and a spin-off etc etc, they ARE doing more. There's a True Blood musical confirmed and I know it was "in the works" back in June, not sure if it's finished yet.

Noo! Not a Eric / Pam spin-off. Be more original than that! They should just make an Anthology series about the Great Revelation where it could take place as a prequel showing the events of vampires first coming out to the public.

Or maybe a sequel of True Blood where vampires are being waged an all-out war by the humans in USA in the distant future.

Bring totally new characters, conflicts, premise, etc.

Honestly, I think Alexander was over True Blood two or three seasons before it went off the air. I don't see him wanting to reprise the role, but stranger things have happened. I don't think his movie career took off the way he would have liked, so I can see him moving back to television. I just don't think it would be for True Blood.

He's in the new HBO show that starts in February. I think it's called Big Little Lies.

Thanks! The summary seems like an edgier Desperate Housewives, but I will definitely check it out.

I thought the same thing. I'm going to check it out anyway, just cuz I love him. It can't be much worse than Battleship. lol

Do keep in mind it's just a mini series - not permanent. And he may have gotten the role because he's trying to reestablish a relationship with HBO.

Agree. Alex seemed like he was ready to move on from True Blood for awhile, but I disagree about his career. He does seem open to TV, but his films are doing just fine. He's still taking on very different roles in all types of projects just like he did before TB ended. Critics took notice of his work in The Diary of a Teenage Girl. Tarzan did much better than expected; it ended up earning somewhere around $387 million and an A- on CinemaScores. Big Little Lies is coming up in early 2017. He just wrapped Mute with Duncan Jones directing and Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux co-starring. War on Everyone with Michael Peña will be opening in the US in January. Both actors are being praised for their performances. Plus it's already gotten good to great reviews overseas. He'll be filming Fever Heart with Cara Delevingne in February, I think. Then he's got Aftermath with Keira Knightly and The Kill Team with writer/dir. Dan Krauss from the award-winning documentary. It doesn't seem like he's lacking for work or directors/producers who want to work with him.

Alexander is doing great. He and the gal that plays Arlene are probably the 2 most successful of the crew. I would love for him to continue Eric but I think it won't happen, it will have to remain a fanfic.

I think she was messing with you but who knows? HBO is in need of a fan favorite fix since GoT is ending soon and it's not the rest of their shows that are going to get fans running.

Honestly though, and I think that may be the biggest "issue" with a Pam-Eric spinoff, both actors are much older now (hey, it's life, they aged!) and even though they both look good, I don't see them playing vampires who aren't supposed to age, let alone vampires before TB assuming it's a prequel thing.
