You guys hating this film are proof that imdb is full of no brainers

It was a movie for kids. It was actually fun and the two leading kids were so cute that I could have watched 10 hours with them playing detectives.
The boy-dog relationship was also well established. The weird, unsocial kid who is actually the most intelligent one in the school is actually not a cliche, but kind of a reality and I've always liked this concept. The kids' acting was very.... very.... very ok for thire ages.

Yes, some scenes were cringe worthy, but it was the same in the Jim Carrey movies. They stuck to the recipe. Actually, I thought those movies were dumb, intended to a dumb audience. Who wants to see a grown man making a fool of himself? It's just my opinion that the kid from this movie was fun and it was much much better for a child to play Ace Ventura than for a grown up.

I love animals, so the message of this movie was nice for me as well. It's a good message for kids to cherish animals, to be themselves, to be brave and have no fear. Sure, the main point of the movie is to entertain, but I'm just bringing up the side value too.

I can't believe the hate. I'm actually sorry that I, live in this generation, which can't seem to grasp movie concepts like "children entertainment", "cuteness", "moral values", "child acting".

I know critics also bashed this film and before you tell me that they're always right, let me just point out that critics think Avengers and Thor are good movies. If that's what entertainment has become- forced jokes by grown ups acting like kids- then I'd rather watch a real kids' movies, like Ace Ventura Pet Detective jr.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone with this post, but there are people who liked this movie and don't dare to make a stand when they see so many bad messages about it. This herd effect that happens every time a good movie is bashed has got to stop. It's either one or the other: either I am a no brainer for seeing a fun wonderful journey in this film or you are no brainers for thinking it sucked. I just had to let it out.

My ratings are not always like the IMDB average score because I only enjoy intelligent movies.

All I read was, "it was such a butt nugget, I need to write this diatribe to assure everyone I didn't waste a bit of my life watching this."
