Since when do children die in movies??

I mean come on... that was just sick... i was so mad when i watched that... sad excuse for a movie and they had to throw that part in.. i couldnt believe it... and her death had to be gory too... poor kid... stupid people who don't know anything about snakes in the first place.. i mean come on at LEAST Snakes on a plan was pretty accurate as to the breeds of snakes and how people die from snake bites.. this was fu ckin sad. Snakes dont bite you in the chest and rip out hunks of flesh... or sliver through your arm into your heart.. haha. oh boy.

just to fill you in... (and i know how to make a scary movie.) they made the kid die to make it scarier. people feel more sympathy for children than they do adults. if they made a kid die a gory death (like you said.) then the audience will be very scared because children are young, and have their whole lives ahead of them.

reply

law and order svu has been killing kids for years. hostage killed kids, slaughter of the innocents killed kids gruesomely, the patriot killed kids, it's been going on for a while now...don't start getting all bent out of shape now.

If it takes more energy to hate...I get all the exercise i need from hating you

And not only that, Pet Semetary killed a child, and it was wonderfully eerie. Also, this is a stupid run off movie. It's one of those movies you go into knowing it's gonna be bad. Not only that, but these snakes are "magic" snakes. Like JMcClane02 said, don't go nuts about it, it's a movie.

don't forget gladiator.
that kid got kneed in the face by a fking HORSE!!

reply

Mimic killed off kids.

As did possibly the most famous killer creature feature Jaws.

FINALLY a kid *beep* dies in a movie.
it always bugged me that as long as you were under 20, you were safe from everything.

I thought the scene with the little girl being eaten by the giant snake was great.

I write bios, therefore I am.

reply

Assault on Precinct 13 definitely has the best child death scene.

I thought the little girl's untimely end made this film (beaten only by the ludicrous ending). If a vulnerable child can die a grizzly death what hope is there for the rest of the characters? It makes things a little more exciting and unpredictable, as well as being hilariously gory and ridiculous. There is never the freedom to this in mainstream cinema.

reply

Also what about 28 DAYS LATER when the infected kid got smashed in the head with a shovel?

And THE SWARM when all those bratty All American schoolkids got stung to death by killer bees!

Sounds like the nanny state has got to someone(adopts spazzy pedantic cynical social worker voice . . . OH WHY DO WE HAVE TO SEE KIDS DIE IN MOVIES WHEN THERE IS ENOUGH CHILD DEATHS IN REAL LIFE TO WORRY ABOUT BLAH BLAH BLAH etc) . . . get a life, this is just cinema. Who the hell cares anyway.

reply

It's not like the kid is hurt in anyway for real. The kid most likely had fun acting out there death scene.

I would have loved to act out my own death scene as a kid.

reply

That's actually one of the few "good" things about the film. In 99 out of 100 Hollywood flicks, kids don't die, which really ruins the tension because if you've seen enough films it becomes predictable. Thus, any film that ignores this cliché, no matter how craptastic it is, is welcome in my book.

Also of the note is "Feast". The kid goes out pretty horribly in that movie as well.

reply

The movie "M" from 1931 was about a child murderer, so this is hardly new.

A significantly worse movie in which a child is killed is "In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale".

reply

Feast... A little boy is devoured and torn apart by a creature (although it's kind-of played for laughs)

Feast II: Sloppy Seconds... A baby is snatched up and eaten by a creature, and we see a pool of blood and chunks of flesh left over.

Rambo... Children are slaughtered, although it's based on true events, so I don't know if it counts.

Plus all of the previously mentioned movies.
