This movie is so cheesy

Ok I know that this stuff goes on at college. I work at a university as well as was a big partier back in my undergraduate days. Although the movie touches on a serious topic, the bad acting and the overdramatization turns it into a comedy. Lifetime has a knack for that.

1)I just want to know what college this girl goes to, because I'm sorry those parties were way too huge and "professional" for just campus party. Af if it's a real place I'd like to get a job there. hehehe

2)What was the mother thinking that her daughter wasn't going to at least try partying? Then she wants to pull her out of school if she is drinking? Hell she should have just stayed home and went to a local college or a community college. I forgot that I had parents when I was an undegraduate. It's called independence mom. Let her go and figure it out for herself.

3) The parts where they drink shots. In slow motion no less, are so stupid. Ok that many shots of Goldschlager,Jack and Cuervo? Please these girls would have been dead and on the floor! So not real. The same when they were doing shots at Spring Break. Don't even get me started on the spring break part.

4)I love how she's an innocent virgin who becomes a slut because of drinking LOL

5)Gee I knew the dorky guy with the guitar would get her in the end and of course he used to be a partier but now he's "seen the light". Whatever.

6) Oh and I love how all people in the frat house just let Shanna drink, drink, drink and she just happens to die with no one there. Now I know some frat guys are jerks, but there were enough people there that probably would have stopped her.

7) The Dorms! Wow I wish my dorm was that cool and I could party that much. I love how there wasn't one hint of an R.A. or anything. They just drank, and drank, and drank, never got busted once. Come on!

Bottom line is, if you can't drink responsibly and succeed in school, then you shouldn't be in college in the first place. It's sad that it takes a loss of 20+ grand a year in wasted tuition money or a serious accident or even death for these idiots to realize what they're doing.

I knew there would be a cheesy "message" at the end of the movie. I was totally waiting for it.

I'll preface this by saying that I know this movie was completely dramatic...because if it was 100% real life (like if they filmed my life) then there'd be nothing to show for it. But they have to make things a tad more dramatic.

1. I'll agree here. I got a little confused at this point. I thought that maybe those parties like the one the first time they went out were maybe like at a bar that they snuck into or something...way too professional. You're right on that one, and I was confused as to where they were supposed to be.

2. Yeah, her mom probably never thought taht she would ever drink. But the fact was, her mother was noticing that her entire life was changing because of her partying ways. You can have fun and not change that much. But her grades were dropping severely, and she wasn't answering her phone. She actually LOST her phone, and she didn't make the track team (which, by the way they set up the movie, sounds like she should have made the team no problem if she wasn't partying so much). So her mom had every reason to be worried. It's not "Oh gosh, you had a beer with pizza last night? You awful child!" It's "I can never reach you, you're doing awful in school, you were put on probation, etc."

And on that note...her mom has every right to pull her out of school if she wants to...she was paying for it. Sounds like they had to give up a lot to send her to college. The one who pays makes the rules. The daughter has every right to figure things out...but if she's royally screwing up while figuring it out...then let her figure it out on her own dime.

3. one tequilla, two tequilla, three tequilla, floor. That's all I'm going to say on that one. .

4. From the sounds of the voiceover, she wasn't a virgin going to college. She had slept with at least one other person. I think the actual quote was "This guy was only the second guy I had ever slept with," which means she wasn't a virgin. Not exactly a slut to begin with, but they always say that after you've cashed in the V-card, you're less likely to think about the act the same way.

5. I got nothing...it was very obvious. You're right.

6. I'm not surprised. I mean, how is someone supposed to monitor how much one girl is drinking? They had no clue she had already been drinking. And for all they knew, she just passed out and was going to sleep it off there. It's not like she died a noisy and violent death. She just never woke up. I don't know how they WOULD have known she was dying. I don't think a completely sober person would have noticed.

7. They were under the radar it seemed for the most part. There was always drinking in our dorms, and everyone knew when the RA was there and when she was not. Drinking went on regardless, but it was more out in the open if the RA was gone for the evening.

Lifetime movie without the cheesy message at the end is just no Lifetime movie at all! haha It's true.

why do they also make it seem like in college if you study youre a dweeb? so not true. no one refers to anyone as a dork who studies. the vast majority of people in college actually do schoolwork.

i hate this movie bc its so fake and unrealistic. even my freshman year friends who partied didnt act like this... and im including the ones who dropped out from never going to class.

i hope no one bases any of their opinion of college on this movie, bc that would be like watching the da vinci code and thinking thats the entirety of the religion of catholicism.

i'm not basing college life off of this movie but its a known fact that when somebody (Especially girls for some odd reason) go off to college and they haven't experienced anything such as partying or drinking they're going to go wild. The poster who said "it's called independence mom" is right, but like the tagline says too much independence can be dangerous! Its not the college, its the independence that gets young adults into trouble.

If you love Jesus Christ and are 100% proud of it copy this and make it your signature!

I thought it was funny that the turning point for her was when she backed a car into a fire hydrant. But the fact that she slept with strange men or danced half naked at Spring Break and it ended up on the Internet didn't seem to faze her at all. Her bad grades and coming in last at her track tryout didn't have any effect on her either. Even her mom showing up and finding her drunk did nothing but she has a fender bender and she finally gets the message to stop drinking.

I somewhat agree with the topic starter.

Although I don't even believe it's trying to touch on a serious subject. It's just trying to flat out rule out drinking for teenagers by over-dramatizing *beep* like there's no freaking tomorrow. It's basically like how they tried to keep kids away from drugs before, "DONT DO DRUGS!" "Why?" WHY? YOU'LL DIE DAMNIT!".

Yeah I mean seriously people, underage drinking is a problem, but instead of trying to really understand and solve the problem, the director just decided to go "alcohol = bad = you'll die, i've got nothing further to add, see for yourself".

Jesus. I can't even believe I sat through all that crap, just happened to catch it on television. The funniest thing in the entire movie is when her mom is like "So you mean... she's an alcoholic?!??!?!" YES she's been drinking for 8 months tops, she's 18 years old, and because she's out partying that means she's an alcoholic.

Or the scene where her boyfriend reveals himself as a guy who used to drink before. "I lost my job, failed my studies, lost my girlfriend.... you don't need to drink to find out who you are!"

Oh WHAT? Hell here I thought all teenagers drank to find out who they were, and to fit in. Oh stop for a second, they're in college, they're freaking 18 years old, drinking or smoking a cigarette to fit in is common ground for 13 year olds. If an 18 year old tries to use drinking as a way to fit in, then the problem isn't even drinking. It's personal stuff that goes deeper than someone drinking alcohol due to peer pressure. God forbid that they're actually drinking because it's enjoyable and fun.

I've never been this upset about a movie, seriously.

If you want to see a *beep* of propaganda all packed in one movie, watch this, and laugh.

Sam Spady was someone I knew. She died alone, on a couch in an empty room of a frat house. When she left for the weekend, she told us how she was gonna go to all of these parties and we told her to have a great time.

You don't know how we regretted never telling her to be careful. Never telling her that driving drunk isn't the only thing to worry about. How bitterly awful her friends feel having left her there thinking she would be better staying and sleeping it off.

the movie might be cheesy, but sadly it happens too often in real life.

This was definitely over-dramatized. I agree with the poster who mentioned that it's not nerdy to actually study when you're in school. This isn't the 80's, people aren't going to ridicule you if they find you at the library.

The "soulful guy with the guitar"...yeah, I called that five minutes in. Obvious hookup.

However, I can see the thing with Shanna happening. If your best friends were around, one of them would probably stop you from drinking yourself into oblivion, (if they weren't wasted themselves) but if these are just "casual friends" who don't really know you, they won't be concerned about you. It's not hard to pass out on some random person's couch.

As for the RAs, it depends. My first RA was a real hardass, you NEVER wanted to get caught drinking on her watch. But my second RA...the only time I ever saw or heard of her was the day I moved in, and that was it. LOL. So it really depends on the person.

Binge drinking can be serious. When I was younger I did it to the point of blacking out and wrecking cars.
